I am a sophomore at UT Chattanooga. I have the option of taking physiology or anatomy in any order. I have heard that it is actually easier to take physiology first and then anatomy. Which one do you recommend taking first and why?

Well, I am more of a visual learner and would prefer learning the structures first (anatomy), then the function (physiology). But, the only A&P classes that I've taken have been combined so I've learned both concurrently. I do think it's easier to learn the physiology after learning the anatomy though. Just my 2 cents.

Knowing the anatomy will help you with the physiology I would think since you will know what structures they are talking about. It could be different for your school though in that they don't expect you to know the structures in psio. Anatomy is a lot of memorizing so take it in a semester you can really study it. Psio tends to make more sense and was easier to learn.

I took physiology first and it worked well for me. I think the best option is taking them at the same time because of the amount of material that overlaps but that would be a lot of work. I found having taken physiology made anatomy easier. In physiology, knowing basic anatomy will be fine when learning mechanisms and such. All the detail you go over in anatomy is overkill when it comes to what you actually need in physiology.

I say take Physiology first.
