This isn't a "what are my chances" kind of thread but I will list my grades for mcat for reference for the question that I need help with.

cgpa: 3.35
mcat: 24; 8 in each

I work as a critical care tecnician at a hospital and they offer "free" courses (I think I still have to pay 10% of the tuition even with the full time employer tuition assistance) The course that I want to take is Anatomy and Physiology since I never took it in college and thought that it would prepare me for A&P in med school. The problem with this is if my employer pays for my course, I have to work there for a year after I finish class. This means I have to work until at least august 16.

I think med school starts somewhere in late august so I'll have a week off and then off to med school. Other people on SDN suggest to take a couple months off from work, school, etc and just do what I want to do.

So my question is whether it is worth taking A&P right now or should I just take it in med school (it would be my first time taking A&P)?

It depends on where you take the course. Committing to a year is kinda sketchy. Then they have you by the balls. Also, you definitely don't need a & p before med school. It might help a little bit, but you can always just study it on your own if you want a slight jump start. As for the working thing, I am going to school this august. I will be working until the day before I leave for school, strictly because I have to. If you can I would take some time off before you got to school. Don't let some unnecessary course lock you in to a situation that you might regret.

I would just wait until med school to take the course. Many schools start earlier like the first week of August (NSU for instance) and then you would be in a real predicament. It just doesn't seem to be that worthwhile to be honest.
Also on a side note, I would spend the time instead studying more for the mcat and trying to get that score close to 30. If you have time and you won't be delaying your application (as people who applied early have gotten in with your mcat) I would suggest doing that instead.

Thanks for the replies! I also got the same suggestion from one of the med students at the school that I want to attend. So I will most likely not take any courses and just enjoy my time before medical school
