Hi every one, I'm currently a graduate pharmacist working part-time at cosco. Since it took me months to finally get hired, I started using my saving account to get by. I am under a lot of financial stress, so I have to look for a second jobs to get more income. Is it considered conflict of interested if I work for walgreens for night shifts? I do not have any hospital experience, so looking for a second job at a hospital has been rough for me too. What is your suggestion on the kind of second job that doesnt have time conflict with cosco? Thank you very much for ur answers

Costco probably won't like you working for a competitor.

For a side job, PRN hospital would likely be best because the hours would be less likely to conflict. With a PRN job, they might not care about lack of experience. You could also consider long term care, infusion, compounding, consulting, MTM's... I would target pharmacies that have on call after hours as they will always be looking for PRN workers to relieve their regular staff (ex: LTC, hospice, infusion, small hospitals).

I work full time LTC and PRN hospital and have never had an issue with scheduling 🙂

Costco a competitor of Walgreens? Doubtful Costco would care even a bit. Walgreens vs CVS yes that is a problem. Grocery store vs grocery store yes.

Walgreens with a big box/grocery store would be fine.

This is bad advice. Change Costco to Walmart (or Sam's), do you really think Walgreen's would think that is OK?

OP, it's pretty standard that any retailer will consider your working for any other retailer, as direct competition. You could lose your job over it. I would not mess around with this. The one exception, if you live in a rural enough area, if the competitor you want to work for is a great enough distance away, they they might give you an exemption.

If you have any doubts, ask your district manager what the policy is for part-time jobs.

I fully agree. Working 2 retail joints in the same geographical area is going to be viewed as inappropriate by almost all managers.
