A Physician Trying to Make Sense of Sandy Hook

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Human civilization is ultimately just a collection of patches and barriers set with the intention of keeping our noblest instincts in, our basest instincts out. It's certainly not perfect, but it keeps several billion of us relatively warm and well-fed (if not happy) most of the time. I'm not a god fearing man, so I have to believe that man's collective willingness to find solutions when evil manifests itself then to continuously sacrifice to help total strangers through these ordeals is what got us this far. I don't doubt that it's happening right now. Keep your hope strong, man.

Thanks again Birdstrike. Well said.

I don't usually comment, but I read most of what you write. I agree with more than half of it (that is a positive comment). This post I agree with 100%.

I hope that my actions help to balance at least some of the evil in the world.

I do appreciate the candid words that you present. You are able to keep it real. I hope you don't burn out like PandaBearMD did a few years ago. His blog is one of my favorite things to read. There are many times where you start to sound like him.

Thanks for taking the time to put into words some of the things that I feel, but have not figured out how to express.
