First a little background: I am a 14 year old student who has gotten quite sick of all the massacres that are happening in this country, especially those ones at school, a place where I expect to be safe. Some have called for armed guards at schools. Unfortunately, we just don't have enough money to place a SWAT team in every school. Others call for banning "assault weapons" or even all guns whatsoever. I don't think that that is a good approach because there are plenty of perfectly good people who own "assault weapons" who haven't killed anybody and plus, when I am a physician making good money, I want to be able to own one. I, attempting to sleep came up with a plan. Please do read, and if you like it, share and write to your congressperson. Thanks. And yes I know that there are already tons of threads on gun control.

Number of people who committed suicide with a gun 1993-2007: 260,000

Total number of children killed in school shootings from 1992-2007: 323

Which number gets you more worked up?

This is a joke, right? What are you going to do about the hundreds of millions of guns or there already? It's too late for prerequisites.

Also, this is gun control, not physics. NEWTOWN, not Newton.

Is that your argument? It's a joke, right?

Because a plan is not perfect, the plan cannot be any good?

Please tell me I interpreted what you said incorrectly.

Those who killed themselves with a gun made a choice, they themselves chose to kill themselves. The kids in Newtown (sorry about that Darrka my computer did not recognize Newtown as a word and changed it) did not choose to kill themselves. Also its not just about the few kids who got killed in a couple of shootings. We have the same murder rate as Yemen. People don't choose to be murdered, but people who commit suicide do. Also at Darrka. If you actually read the plan, it includes ammunition control. Ammunition doesn't last forever and is non-reusable. There is a large black market for guns but not for ammunition.

Obviously you haven't seen the market for ammo out there.
Hell, even in Texas, where guns aren't even considered in any danger, the market for ammo has exploded. The number of medics and nurses who are reloading ammo and selling it second hand is immense.
