Would be excellent if attendings or senior residents with significant match selection experience could respond.

I'm not an attending or a senior resident.

But there are so many other research projects out there I'd highly recommend participating in one of those and eschewing cosmetics. It's a red flag to a lot of people.

I don't see how any publication can hurt, as long as it is legitimate.
