I would say I'm between average to above average intelligence.

Intelligence is an artificially-defined quality. I've met a guy who is an absolute genius in terms of business sense and management, and I would be earnestly surprised if he fails to do very well for himself financially in life. But he couldn't carry over a math lesson over a 24 hour period.

More often than not, much more goes into how intelligence is measured than simple mental capacity for learning and invention.

The gifted man can hit the target nobody else can hit.

The genius can hit the target nobody else can see.

I definitely belong in the former category.

I wonder how closely MCAT score would correlate with intelligence.

i would honestly say I am average intelligence but that I just try harder than usual.

When I get an A in a course, I feel like I would've failed if I didn't try as hard as I did, yet the average kids get Cs and Bs from not trying at all. Even when I get an A and I felt like I worked hard for it, other people that got A's may be calling it an easy class.

Intelligence is useless if you don't have common sense.

Intelligence is useless if you don't have common sense.

Wasn't it someone much brighter than us all who said, "Everybody is a genius, but if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will spend its whole life thinking it is stupid?"

The most amazing thing about this thread is the difference between those with impostor syndrome and others with thinly-veiled intellectual pretentiousness. Sigh.

This should suffice.

I think I am smart and a very quick learner. The problem I have is applying myself. When I did actually study everyday I could pull 100s in calc and ochem test...

If I had to guess (because who really knows) from a numbers standpoint, I'd guesstimate myself to be smarter than 2/3rds of other students, and work harder than 85-90% of classmates at my institution.

Common sense is useless if you don't have intelligence.

Fixed.

Personally, I think I'm the least intelligent person, but all the beautiful women I pick up say my intellectual taste in abstract stuff was a sexy turn-on. Odd.

Essentially, they think I'm Dave Underhill.

Actually I've seen twin studies which actually agree with this. Furthermore an enriched environment during development is significantly more correlated with intelligence.

My brother and I were both adopted very young, and school came much easier for me than it has for him thus far. I realize this is anecdotal and environment is certainly important, but genetics is a big factor.
