I had a semester where I got mono and missed the first exam in two of my science classes. I never really caught up and did poorly in these two courses, but my other courses went just fine, IDK why, maybe since they were easier I could handle them better.

My pre-health adviser says she'll mention this in the committee letter etc.

My concern is, from your experience, at what GPA, both science and cumulative will an applicant not be limited in applying to any school? At what point will GPA not harm chances of acceptance?

I guess I might as well ask, is a C is red flag for top schools? (I'm not dead set on getting into a top school, just though I'd ask)

Thanks as always.

I don't think there's any way to definitely say, "aha! Below THIS number, you're chances decrease substantially." However, you have to keep in mind that, especially at the top schools, there are going to be many, many applicants that are extremely qualified and won't have the same grade hiccups you had. Thus, IMO, there has to be something unique about you to "compensate" so to speak - this could be anything from ECs, to your major, to your background, to even where you're from. Who knows.
