Has anyone taken the Kaplan DAT prep classes offered in Denver? I would really like some feedback on what you thought about the classes. What did you think of the person who taught the class or possibly who might be a good fit for the class?

Yes,Yes, Yes.....I know this is post in the wrong forum but need advise from someone who has at least a year up on me in the dental school cycle.

Hey there...I live down in the Springs. I haven't seen a Kaplan DAT class offered down here yet, but they have the MCAT class.

I was told by an applicant who got accepted this year that the Kaplan class is pretty much a joke. They have a friend who took the MCAT class and the teacher for the organic section was actually a student from her own class. That sucks! I wan't someone who has been teaching it for a while...not a first timer! Especially for that kind of money.

That is all I know and it isn't for the Denver area...who knows, they might have better resources up there?

I am not going to do it...I will just hit the review books hard.

Hope this helps some...

Good luck!

Thanks!!!!!! I'm finding it hard to justify spending that kind of money to review material that I should already be familiar with. The only thing that I keep wondering is do they have any "tricks" or shortcuts that might be an advantage when it comes to taking the test. I don't think I would be real happy if I showed up for one of these prep course only to find out the person that sat beside in O-chem was teaching the class.
Anyways....thanks again.

I took the Kaplan online course and it helped somewhat. They do give you some tricks.....mostly on QR and Reading Comp. Also, on the Organic section they give you the most IR spectra that you are most likely to see on the DAT, instead of having to memorize everything. It also gives some insight into strategies for the PAT. Biology and Chem is pretty much you know it or you don't (they just review). But some of the questions that are reviewed are from courses that weren't from the science prereqs for D school.....Ecology, etc. Hope this helps. PM me if you have questions.
