Can anyone help me answering this question?
It's known that hyperglycemia under a stroke aggrevates cerebral ischemia and worsens the prognosis. It is also well known that long-term hyperglycemia (as seen in diabetes mellitus) increases the risk of cerebral ischemia, due to narrowing of cerebral vessels.
My question is: Does transient and short-term hyperglycemia increase the risk of cerebral insults, such as ischemia?
Thanks.
