Or more so a simple question of annoyance that just dawned on me today…

Why doesn’t the double lumen tube come pre-assembled? Why do I have to play Legos to put the thing together so that after intubating I don’t look like a klutz attaching alll the parts meanwhile the 150kg VATS patient is starting to desaturate.

They should come put together so that after intubating I can immediately attach to the vent.

Again, sorry just ranting

Because your facility is buying the ones that don’t have the integrated shutoff.

Just search for no-clamp double lumen tube.

Don’t always need a clamp. Just plug your normal regular elbow to the side you want to ventilate.

Hey, I'll gladly use the EZ-Blocker any day... As long as the patient doesn't have horrible lung disease.

I can live with the assembly and clamping… I just need them to be made 5cm longer.

i recently had a patient with such bad mediastinal lymphadenopathy, that the EZ blocker 'Y' would barely open. it was like there was a Schatzki ring of nodes at the bifurcation. Took me forever to isolate the right lung. We finally get the patient position and prepped, etc for the robot. Surgeon is like, can you adjust the Ez blocker? ....sure thing Bruh....I probably should have just rammed a single lumen tube down the left and said this is what you get..DLT's would not advance at all.
