I've just started residency in infectious disease and while I'm enthusiastic and commited to work (I really really wanted to get into this residency) I notice I just can't seem to get all the necessary work done. I take care of about 10-16 pt (10pt 1 attending/when 16pt 2att.). Beside this I do skin biopsies (variable - from 4-10/day, takes about an hour).
When there are 16pt on my list I'm simply overwhelmed by everything (at times finishing 6 discharges/day...)...having just 10 pt feels like being on vacation 😉
Since no one has as yet shown me or taught me any kind of system to organize yourself when you've got loads of work on your hands, I'd really appreciate your advice on this. How do you manage 16 pt (and all the discharges...). Right now I'm running around all day like crazy, not really learning anything...it's frustrating 🙄.
Is there a system to organize the work better?
thx🙂
