Hey all,

Anyone else get an interview at AT? There's a few threads with some good information about the interview day, but I was wondering if there's any current posters who attend AT who would be able to provide some general feedback about the program?

Thanks!

hey. I'm currently a 1st year at ATSU. The school wasn't my 1st choice prior to my interview but after my interview they were a heavy favorite, the school is centered around the best interest of the student and the staff and faculty make sure you succeed. I've only had one round of midterms so i'm not that experienced but i'm 100% confident i made the right decision. The interview is very laid backed they just want to get to know you.. there wont be questions on political stuff in PT or questions about APTA.. Just show them that everything in your App and essays are true. Good luck!! if you have anymore questions just let me know.

Thanks for the reply! I'm just curious, did you also interview for Midwestern Glendale by any chance? I have both interviews a week apart and if I don't get into NAU it will most likely be between those two. But as far as the labs and general curriculum, are you happy with that so far? You all use cadavers right?

congrats!! when is your interview?

Good LUck, I interviewed last cycle at ATSU (not accepted) and NAU (waitlisted) Ditto to what ICECOLD PT said. Applied but didn't get interview at Midwestern.
Just be yourself. Perky, enthusiastic, gets along with others, can speak up for yourself, etc. ... we're students........we don't know everything there is to know about PT or its politics not until we start living it.
You'll do great.

Thanks I appreciate it. I guess I was a little worried about being asked things about Vision 2020 and related things. Litlwarrior...could you tell me when you heard from nau? I know they interview in Feb, but ever since the initial thanks for applying email its been nothing. Thanks!

There are a bunch of my postings for NAU in this forum with a ton of us asking and responding to a lot of those process questions..(time line Jan 2011 to June)....... we interviewed in early March and I believe they contacted us in late Jan. for interview. They don't do anything earlier. There are just the two days and generally one day is for out-of state apps the other in-state apps. There may be different procedures this year since they opened the PHX extension program. Think they interviewed about 150 students. Initially about 48 were accepted to fill the main campus seats and the new program seats (24) were waitlisted and an additonal waitlist beyond those. Then they got through about 20 on the 2nd waitlist by June.
Not sure about this cycle---if they will be interviewing for all seats at the same time and place or splitting them up. But this could be a good question to call and ask. or email. They were pretty good about responding to my frequent questions.
You can schedule a tour up at NAU ahead of time, same w/ midwestern and MW has a couple orintation days throughout the year. My plan was to be seen and get my name to be familiar and match a face to it. I was compensating for my lower GPA and SGPA.
Good Luck

ME TOO NicholeJ5! Maybe I will see you! what time is your interview?!

I'm interviewing this friday at 10:45...you? Are you from az?

For those who had interviews today how did they go? What kind of questions were you asked?

pretty much the standard run of the mill questions you would expect.

From what I've heard, every school has pretty much the same question lists in some way or another.

Why did you choose X school
Why do you want to be a PT
What are your hobbies
Strengths and weaknesses
Questions about what X word means to you (integrity/honor/principle/etc)
How do you deal with stress
How would you handle seeing a peer (insert cheating/stealing/lying/doing meth) in class
Vision 2020 and evidence based practice

don't worry about vision 2020 or anything to do with APTA because AT won't ask you. Sorry i can't really remember specific questions because it was my first interview and sort of a blur. I can say for sure no out of the box questions, or what this word means questions.

I had my interview on Friday and already heard back...I've been accepted!! Good luck to everyone on their upcoming interviews

Thank you, I'm hoping to stay in AZ so honestly at still, midwestern and nau are all my top choices lol. But NAU has the edge in tuition costs, but I was more than happy with the facilities and staff at ATSU

I had a phone interview Friday and acceptance email today! I got a lot of "tell me a time when ___ happened and what you did/learned from it" questions. Overall it was pretty laid back i got the impression that it's a good program.

congrats, are you going to accept the seat? also, are you applying to any other schools in az?

Hey Nicolej5, I was accepted to A.T. Still as well. How did your interview at Midwestern go?

Tough to say. AT Still is the closest to me, but I have to say that the Midwestern campus was impressive. Did you hear back from Midwestern yet?

Yea AT is closer, but I felt way better about Midwestern, I felt at home. I actually just checked and my portal changed and I've been accepted! If it doesn't work out with one other school, I will be going to MU

Congrats on the acceptance. What date did you interview and when did you receive your acceptance email?

thank you. I interviewed last Friday and found out today. I haven't received an email, but my portal changed. From reading what past students have said, that is the first indicator and the call/email comes after about a day or so.

The reason I ask is because I interviewed at Midwestern downers grove last Thursday and I am waiting back to hear from them 😛

I was also accepted to touro nv so trying to decide which i'd prefer. Tuition is about the same so I'm leaning towards touro for location (I'm from ut). Congrats on Midwestern!

Thanks! Yea I also applied to Touro but mainly as a safety sort of school and the fact they don't interview, which is something I thought I'd have struggled with. I've heard good things about it. I know this sounds petty but I google'd the "campus" and it just seems like a warehouse building somewhere along auto row lol so that was the only real turn off for me.

It was a wearhouse......i thought the same thing when i googled it last year.....but completely up graded all high tech, and everything is in one building, very convenient. No windows, which is good because then when you are there studying all day and into the night you have no clue the sun set  or to distract my wandering mind. Very good location as far as getting on and off the freeway or taking surface roads. We have a community out patient PT clinic on campus where I've done some obs hrs, also on campus is an autism center, and general med clinic oen to the public, which I don't interact w/ at all.

I don't really remember any specific questions, but you go on a tour done by a current student. Ask them whatever you want they will be honest. Then you interview one on one. Then you have an opportunity to ask 2 admissions people and one current student any questions you want. Doesn't take very long. Good luck.

Just got my acceptance to AT Still! After my interview, it became one of my favorites! Anyone else planning on attending in the fall?

I am accepted to ATSU, but on the wait list! I have an interview with NAU in Feb, so we will see how that goes. NAU is my first choice, but if that interview doesn't go well, I am hoping that a seat will open up at ATSU!

This is true nicolej5. When your portal changes that is the first indicator that you've been accepted then you will receive an email. Congrats on the acceptance! I am a current first year student so if you have any questions please feel free to ask 🙂

Hey guys, I was just recently invited for a phone interview for "alternate status only" next week. Could those who interviewed over the phone explain the process and what sort of questions to expect?? Also I'm a bit confused on how the alternate list at AT-Still works?? What are the chances of being accepted off of the alternate list? Also, if someone does not get accepted off of the alternate list this year they are guaranteed a spot for the following year?
