I was just wondering if someone could make a thread on the whole nbde procedure for overseas dentists. e.g. for someone who qualified from India.

I know many people know but people like me and other aspiring people don't have a clue so I was wondering if a sticky thread could be made explaining the layout and the structure of the whole thing.

Well we have a thread for ITDs already but in a very short the steps are:-
1. get transcripts, marksheets and recos (make sure to get Dean's Letter) official with seal across from ur school
2. get ECE evaluation both general and course by course
3. take NBDE as graduate from non accredited university and submit ECE general evaluation
4. apply to the advanced standing programs (there is a thread that sherif started he had this spreadsheet of all colleges with details)
5. wait😀:scared:😕

Please be sure to check ADA's website (www.ada.org) and it has the latest information and a whole section related to FTD

Yes, it's a great idea but not just for Indian dentists, but for everyone. And anyway, I assume it's the same no matter where you come from... I for one am a little confused as to what i need to do in order to register for the NBDEs, if I have to have my stuff evaluated by ECE before I apply or not, how long it will take to get the results and when we should take it in order to be able to apply to schools in time....
Maybe someone can post like a time line of everything that we should do..
Thank you in advance!!🙂

I've been told that I only need the course by course evaluation... Do the NBDEs require us to have the general one? And what is the difference between the two anyway?

exactly thats why we need this thread for questions. one bigthread rather than small threads all over.

There is no need to get a general evaluation. NBDE accepts both. For the schools , you need a course by course.

Are you sure? 'Cause I asked a rep at ADA and they asked me for a general one anyways "may be" a course by course might do again confirm from someone. usually the schools start taking in application starting april so it's a good idea to finish all your exams by second week of march to prepare your CV SoPs and consolidate all the documents you have and also allow for some time in case there is a delay in reporting the scores.
Start all the paper work by at least Febuary which includes registering for the tests (NBDE and TOEFLE- I remembered that I had not mentioned TOEFL in my prev post at all) , sending ADA the ECE evaluations, getting the confirmation letter scheduling exam, taking the test, recieving scores and Application process.

I'm sure. I never got a general evaluation done.
