As we all know, purchasing flights+hotel+rental car can be very expensive during the interview season. Some of the schools offer student housing but many do not. During the last interview season, I figured something out, which helped me save a lot of money. So, I decided to share this among all the future medical students.

Instead of purchasing flights, hotel, and rental car separately buy it as a vacation package. If you go to priceline/hotwire/expedia there is an option for vacation package somewhere at the top. It will show you a combined price (for flight+hotel or flight+hotel+car, or flight+car or other combination), and interestingly enough most of the time, that is much more cheaper than buying them individually. Also, when you get vacation package, sometimes price for 2 days can be cheaper than 1 day. So check that out as well.

Best of luck with your interviews!!!

Another tip: don't use Priceline/Hotwire/Expedia (they usually charge a hidden service fee) and use enterprise directly. Or don't rent a car from the airport. Instead, uber to an off airport rental car location.

Use Airbnb.

Use southwest for their flexible arrangement policy.

Also, get the Chase Sapphire card (reserve if you can) omg the perks on the travel rewards on that card! I put all my app expenses on it, and I already have enough for a couple round trip flights, free access to all the airport lounges, $300 in travel credit (Ubers and Lyft are included), and so many extra little things like rental car insurance! Now all I need are some IIs

Greetings fellow SDNers,
First post

Anyways, I second using Uber or Lyft. I found Lyft was cheaper, but either one is about half the cost of a Taxi and probably a lot cheaper than renting a car unless you plan to drive a bunch.
