Quick question,

I took a Gen Chem 1 class through cross registration at a university close to mine. Basically it means that I take the class at a different school but it shows on my transcript as if I took it at my home university. I earned a 90% final average which at the school is an A- (3.75), but because my home school grades on a 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 scale it will show on my transcript as a 3.5.

Is it worth contacting my professor to see about how close I am to the A cut off and if theres anything that can be done?

Medical schools will see it as a 3.7.

the grade on my transcript will be the 3.5, they wont see the A- even though I earned it.

Im curious if its going to be a huge difference in how my application reads.

The grade on your transcript will be an A- from the cross institute, as you'll need to send that over.

Were you given an A- for the final grade? When you record the A- on AACOMAS, they will standardize the gpa to 3.7, regardless of the actual gpa you received on your transcript.

I was given an A- in the class, but my home university will convert that to a 3.5. So the A- will never show on my transcript.

Can you get a transcript from the other school or are you forced to only receive the one from your home university?

I'm pretty sure you're REQUIRED to for medical school applications to send in both.

I am awaiting a reply to an email to see if they keep transcript grades for cross registered students...I have a feeling that the only grade recording will be at my home university.

If this is the case I was planning on meeting with my teacher to discuss how close I was to the A cut off and if theres anything that I could do to reach the cut off. Is the difference between between a 3.5 and 3.7 significan enough to warrant me speaking with my professor?

I will be applying with only the pre-reqs required for DO med school.

You will need transcripts from every school you take classes at regardless of if the course is only recorded in your GPA at one institution.

Ok, Thank You. My only concern is that I will have 2 grades for the same class.

You only enter it on AACOMAS once. You enter it for the school you took it at, not the school the grade was transferred to.

Edit: Your UG GPA as calculated by your UG does not matter at all. What matters is your letter grades and number of credits. When you apply, you will input those things into the AACOMAS form so that AACOMAS can calculate your GPA for yo

Ok, That makes sense to me. So its pretty much 100% that the school I am cross registered with has a record of the grade even though I am not a student there.

It is absolutely 100%.

I got the email back from the registrar and it turns out that even though I take the course at the other school, it is considered a course at my home school. Its a agreement that the universities have to give students opportunities to take different types of courses. So, there is no other transcripts to show.
