I don't want to see patients today. I want a Bimmer.

Where is my gosh-darn signing bonus already.

When the stock market declines massively more next week go ahead and invest it all and you might just have several bimmers and an early retirement as your signing bonus.

I feel slightly bad for thinking it but it sure felt good to get my first "doctor car" after working as an attending for 2 years. The car dealer's eyes lit up when I told him my profession!

Never tell anyone trying to sell you something that you're a doctor

I did this! My only regret is that I didn't get my full license already so I could moonlight like mad this weekend and put it all into my retirement portfolio.

LOL. Well, "bimmers" get better gas mileage then most cars and are safer so you're doing it for the environment and your family 😉

You're timing is a little off, the first week in April will be the time to buy.. things will get a lot worse over the next 3 weeks

Sure but it doesn't hurt to start DCA from yesterday when we had a 2300 point decline. Todays nearly 2000 point rally is fools gold bounced off yesterdays loss, the fed cut, and the suspension of interest on student loans. Fundamentally we are going to decline much further as the virus hasn't even touched the surface here. Every week we have touched a new low and the bottom line is the virus and social distancing is going to effect everything and it will become relevlant in q2 reports when tons of companies tank and most likley we see the true bottom i won't be surprised to see the dow at 15k which might be worth going "all in" or at least 50% in if your DCA. best of luck to all.

Don’t market time. Invest when you have the money

I'd normally always agree with this but the impact of this virus is just starting with proper testing and we are going to see an exponential growth in cases causing further closures and limitations. I won't be surprised if domestic travel is limited. I won't touch the market till some stabilization occurs. We've never had a virus cause a disruption to the economy like this. Also, the q1 and q2 earnings will be missed causing large corrections to current prices.

hope i'm wrong guess we'll see on tax day.

Yeah probably true. I mean I don't want to jump on the wagon of "THIS TIME ITS DIFFERENT!".... but this time really is different.

While I agree not to time the the market now is when I am increasing my contributions. My opinion is generally when the masses are selling it is time to buy especially for those with 10+ years to retirement.

Same. Just put in my 2020 Roth

The market is heading to dow 15k likely later this year after earnings. DCA here. This may give anyone that chooses a retirement a decade earlier if they invest wisely.

Stay healthy everyone. Never more grateful doing tele med than i am now.

Thank goodness i have waitied to invest in this market. I think we just hit 18k so 15k is being conservative

Bimmers are great. Buying them new may be dumb, but that's one of my self-care practices. My salespeople at the dealership know what I do but every time I go in they just ask for the details of what I want to order and sell it to me for a few hundred over invoice. They make money, I get a good deal, and no time is wasted dickering. As an established physician, I'm probably in the 60th percentile of their customers income-wise but I may have bought more cars from them over the past 24 years than average. Maybe treat the sales people with respect and insist on the same from them?

Also, I'd be amazed if there's a psychiatry signing bonus anywhere that's sufficient to buy a good car without having to sell your soul. Make a budget, pay off the student loans, and you're good to go.
