hey guys, just wonderin everyones thoughts on this....

is it better to have a higher AA or PAT for applying? is 17AA 20PAT better, or
20AA 17PAT? 🙂

i feel like i can kill the PAT more than the AA.

just curious is all. 👍

AA is much more important. AA = 5 sections; PAT is only 1 section.

i think Sci Avg is more important that PAT

I agree that AA is way more important. Some schools dont give the PAT much weight at all. Be careful when you say you think you can crush the PAT...the actual PAT was much harder than any practice I did.

AA is more important by far. Its like which is more important? Your college gpa vs. your high school gpa

the dentist i'm shadowing right now keeps telling me to focus on the PAT. he says even if you do average on AA and "kill the PAT" then you'd still be alright...I dunno if he even knows what he's talking about..haha

It depends on the school. It's like how some schools weigh the DAT more than your GPA (eg. UOP) -- so some schools probably like to see a high PAT score. Check out predents.com and sort by PAT scores. You'll get an idea of what schools are looking for.

If it wasn't important, it would be part of the AA.

AA is the most important. When someone asks you " so how did you do on the DAT" you say what you got on the AA, not the PAT, that is just a single section, it varies per school, but if you want to get into dental school then focus on the AA, not the PAT.

Right, but if you have a 20 AA and a 15 PAT you're going to have problems at a lot of places. It's not like scoring a 15 on the RC section.

Wait! You mean that reading isn't that important for a dentist?!?!
Why did I waste all that time studying for the RC section!!!

Actually when some asks me "so how did you do on the DAT", I tell them my PAT and RC scores and thats it because they were my best sectons. :meanie:
