I think...
Last year the character count for AMCAS was 5300 and the character count for AACOMAS was 3800.

AACOMAS was definitely 3000 characters which includes spaces. I read some old posts I made about it when I filling out AACOMAS in 2005. It used to be 2000 characters around 2002 so things could change.

Do a search for "3000 characters" and this will confirm it.
