Hello everybody,

So I currently have a MCAT from 2015. Since it will expire next year, my plan was to retake it in January in the circumstance that I do not receive an acceptance at the end of this year. I indicated that I will take the MCAT in January 2019 on my AACOMAS.

So the question is will schools that already have received my primary application ignore my applucation until I receive my new MCAT score? I have not registered for that MCAT test date since it has not opened up for registration yet. Should I call AACOMAS and ask if they could remove that test from my application?

Thanks in advance for your responses!

I also added a future MCAT to my application and AACOMAS told me that it could not be removed now that I've submitted. You can edit the date, but are not able to delete it. They suggested contacting the schools to let them know if I decide not take it. I talked to admissions at a couple different schools and they said that admissions committees may decide to hold your application if there is a future MCAT listed or they may review the application based on your current score but they didn't give me a concrete answer about whether my application would be held or not. Since your MCAT date is so late in the cycle maybe admissions will go ahead and review your application based on your current score. I don't think that it would hurt to email or call the school's admissions office to see how they handle future MCAT scores on AACOMAS.

Most schools will not take a January MCAT for this cycle fyi

Also, policies on MCAT expiration vary. Some are 3 years from app date, some are 3 years to matriculation date.
