Hey everyone.. I'm having some trouble filling out the employment and volunteer sections of the aacomas application. Are we supposed to list only the position title and the dates of service? Do we include a description of our responsibilities? In other words, are these sections supposed to look like resumes, or like lists?

I have two significant job experiences, and two or three volunteer projects that I've committed alot of time to. I'd rather describe these in detail than list 10-15 other activites that I've only had limited exposure to. However, I'm not sure what the appropriate procedure is. Thanks so much for any advice!

If there's room leftover, might as well describe what you did. That's what I did. I had plenty of room left over so I described important aspects of my employment and volunteer positions that "might" enhance my application. Of course, this is my first time applying so I don't really know any better.

When I applied last year, I just listed the title of the job/club/award and the date.

I'm not sure if this is correct, but I got accepted at my first choice school and didn't have any questions about it at the interview.

However, I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to wite a short description if you have room.

Just my 0.02

Do you think they will deduct points if you do not follow the instructions? In the instruction it doesn't say to describe, but oh well.

should we put down certifications (ie EMT, CPR) in this section? is this common?

I am not sure, but I wanted to mention it, I figure it can't hurt. If they don't consider it an award/honor for my hard work to become a lifeguard, then I guess they can just disregard it...

Good luck - this is almost over!!! Well Part 1 😀

Jezzielin - I think that was perfect. I too have been a lifegaurd and I was wanting to put that stuff in somewhere. Your solution was perfect! Thanks...

Thanks, I worked really hard to get certified. That final exam for rescuing - OMG I almost drown!!! hahaha, the 260 lbs. guy I had to save wrapped his legs around mine when I was saving him and he held me underwater forever... 😱

ahh the memories 🙄

I did write some description in, using narrative form, but I notice that in the pdf version of my application, absolutely zero of the description appears. If it's not in the pdf, will the schools even see it? I find that confusing.

I noticed and wondered the same thing
