I just submitted my fee waiver app, it was pretty simple just a 1040 form.

However, I have my entire app finished and all transcripts received. I want to submit asap, how long until AACOMAS will reach a decision from any personal experience?

I want to submit fast in order to be early, but also don't want to spend money!

Mine was 5 business days to be approved. Saves you a ton of money in long run when it comes to secondaries

Sounds like quick turnaround time. I'll just wait until I get approved to submit

I was a bit unlucky with mine, it took over a week to get mine approved. I didn't think I got approved so I just submitted and paid my programs. However, when it finally got approved, I was still able to add other programs and apply to them free of charge.

I am still waiting for mine... About 10 business days or roughly 2 weeks. I'm getting a little impatient now. Hopefully yours will come sooner!

I just called them there are no more available and everyone is on a wait list now

why didnt you call and confirm?

It saved me about $300 on my application so far. If the secondaries are waived, it could be another $300-400 on top of that.

I did, they said they were experiencing some problems with my application in particular. There were more issues on top of the free waiver issue. I was getting antsy because I didn't know how long verification was going to take and I wanted to submit as early as possible so I did. It wasn't a big deal though, like I said, they approved me after and I was able to apply to more schools for free.

Can someone tell me how to go about applying for fee assistance. It says that you should be able to do it by clicking your name on the AACOMAS application, but there isn't anything there in regards to fee assistance. Any help would be great!

I am having the same trouble!! I'm guessing they are out of the Fee Waivers?

Wow that is absolutely terrible. I think its ridiculous how there is only 15 days to be able to submit your application after you receive the funding. Otherwise I would have handed it in earlier, but I was busy waiting on recommendation letters since its my first time applying.

That is so unrealistic, its not even funny.

To obtain all of those letters within the last 2 months have been hell on earth since most people are on vacation at this time, and to see this happen is absolutely depressing.

Great, so basically, I'm completely out of luck. I was frustrated that only 3 schools were applicable, but this is beyond sad, especially for someone like me who can barely afford to do second applications as a service member. Now I'm even debating even doing this because I'm not going to just drop ~$500 that I only have for food. They literally make this process impossible for anyone on the poverty line.

Same here which is why I applied super early. Fee waivers are always limited because AACOMAS isn't a charity. It's very common for people to max out credit cards just to get by during interview season.

Credit cards aren't an option when you make less than minimum wage on an AmeriCorps stipend.

Believe me, I'm pissed that I basically have like no money for food for the next two weeks because of this.

I mean, the $500 is better than the $2000 they gave me for the AMCAS fee waver so I at least got 15 MD schools for free, but its frustrating because I could have easily used this same money to actually go to interviews in the fall (if they happen, geez).

My whole goal is primary care, but even with the 3.6 GPA, fighting to have my MCAT practice test results even be near the 500's is so frustrating. I just want this stupid test over with next Saturday (the 18th).

I even put all my savings for just the room deposit to live in NY last year, and the remainder for the Kaplan MCAT course.

It's so f'd up because the kids in my same program that got in only did it for the money aka specialties.

I hope they take a poor white kid into their ranks, because believe me, I hated having doctors change on me during my childhood as a Medicaid patient.

How do you apply for a fee waiver? I can't find it in my AACOMAS application. I am a re-applicant and last year they had already ran out of fee waivers but since I did qualify for one most of my secondary application fees were also waived. Hopefully they will do that again this year!
