AACOMAS Is A Hot Mess

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I agree, I would double check if your school sent them. It shouldn't have taken more than 2 weeks to have them logged.

My school accidentally sent my transcript to the P.O. Box that used to be listed in the AACOMAS application instructions (it has been removed though) and when I called AACOMAS they said I had to resend it to the street address.

You should call the school to make sure they sent the transcript to the right address.

Nope, no issues here. AACOMAS is awesome compared to AMCAS.
sooooooooooooooooooo true.

verifying anything took forever and a day on amcas. aacomas's computer system looks like it is newer too. They seem more efficient too compared to amcas. plus, I could add as many activities as I wanted.

to add to this, just look on my verified aacomas, and they changed two A's I got to A-'s
Gotta call monday....

I had zero issues with AACOMAS. Issues with having my transcripts sent by my undergrad schools, well, that's another story.
i'm telling you op, aacomas is efficient and great. I really have nothing bad to say about aacomas. AMCAS has a lot to learn from aacomas.

when I call aacomas, there is no waiting. Can't say the same about amcas.

it might be a difference in volume of applicants. But it is amcas job to see these bandwidth problems and to provide reasonable solutions. aacomas has been doing a wonderful job so far.

*Begin Rant*

But seriously, I sent my transcripts to them almost a month ago. Not received as of today. Then I try calling them. Automated service that hangs up on me.

Then they split up your activities into EC's and work history.

Jesus. Christ. Anyone else having these issues?

*End Rant*

I have to agree with OP about this transcript thing. I'm having issues also. And the split is a tad annoying not a big deal.

However. they always pick up immediately when I call. So I will give them credit there. Overall its good though.

Can you imagine what the process was like when people used to send in their application by snail mail? Imagine missing a deadline or something because it got lost in the mail.

A lot of the physicians I shadowed gave me like 12 printed LOR copies and envelopes with hospital logos. I told them I only needed one copy for Interfolio. These guys graduated in the 90's.

Then there were the physicians who graduated well before I was even born. One graduated in the early 60's and one in the 70's. Both wanted to send a handwritten LOR to the dean of every school and then call to follow up. I had to explain that a few more schools had opened up since they finished school and it would be impractical.

I predict in the future the application service will be connected straight to the rectum minimizing the effort needed to transfer this ****.

Took AACOMAS almost three weeks to log my transcripts. All have been received as of today. I must say, I am a little annoyed. How long has verification been taking people? I feel like the verification thread has lost steam and nobody is really updating anymore.

I think they are doing a pretty good job verifying but it is just a tad bit annoying because they aren't open on the weekend and people obviously submit applications on the weekend. They seem to be verifying one date of submission in one day. Back up is being created by weekend if you understand what I am trying to say. I feel like they should be open on the weekends during peak season but you can't always have what you want haha

Found out today they changed two of my As to Bs... And since I transferred my transcripts over from last year, that means the mistake went on last year's application as well. :rage:Completely agree with OP.:boom:

Oh and now I have to resend them the exact same transcript for them to "verify" that they put my grades in wrong in the first place.

Shouldn't they already have your transcripts ?

That's what I said, but they sent me a message saying "any changes require a new transcript." Even though, you know, they already HAVE it and have had it for some time now. But no, that doesn't matter. Nor does it matter to them that they messed it up last cycle as well.

Update: Just learned about the verification thread. Sorry!

Does anyone have an idea of where they are in approving applications? I submitted on July 2, and I'm sure that the three-day weekend is slowing the approval process. I'm fairly new here - let me know if there's another place I should ask this.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but you should expect at least at least a three week wait. I submitted my app on 6/18 and still have not been verified. Goodluck!
