aacomas letter problems fixed?
Started by vanillabear55
In my case, I sent the letters from Interfolio to AACOMAS. I spoke with management at AACOMAS and she reported it's an issue that is affecting many applicants (corrupt letters) and it is being worked on by their tech department.
Last I spoke to them these corruption issues have been fixed but it has opened a new can of worms. People like me who had their letter writers try to send them again to AACOMAS now have duplicates of some
letters. Plus you dont get to choose which letters to send to which schools.
Ugh

When did you talk to them? I asked about it this past Friday.

Friday here too
Friday here too
What a complete cluster.
gr still undecided, it would be so much easier though to use aacomas and not have to pay extra
bumpI thought the corruption of files only existed if you sent the files to AACOMAS from Interfolio? Can anyone confirm this information?

Hey guys, I'm wondering whether this problem still persists at this point, too. Has anyone sent letters from Interfolio to AACOMAS recently and checked if their files are corrupt?

Can you be more specific as to what this corrupting of files entails? This past Friday I sent one letter from interfolio to AACOMAS and it was processed and received by AACOMAS the same day. My dashboard has its bubble lit green meaning it's good to go and I cannot delete/alter it.
I am assuming that it's 100% A-ok unless this corrupting occurs when med schools try to open it? If this was a problem reported as early as June 7 then that probably isn't the case. By my own account the transfer was a success and extremely efficient if you ask me

I haven't gone through the process of sending letters from Interfolio to AACOMAS yet, but my understanding is that people said that when they've sent the letters over to AACOMAS, it says the letter's been received and everything like normal. However, when people have called AACOMAS to ask if they were able to open the sent letter and access it, they weren't able to. Like, the entry for the letter shows up, but when they try to open the actual letter, it doesn't appear to open normally? That's what I'm thinking, though. I know AACOMAS mentioned that they were aware of the problem back in June, and they were working on fixing it, so it's probably likely that it's no longer an issue. I just wanted to make sure before I did anything. 🙂
What you're saying makes sense, but what people are saying doesn't: However, when people have called AACOMAS to ask if they were able to open the sent letter and access it, they weren't able to. Why would people try to access their letters? I think you mean they called to confirm that their letters were received and then AACOMAS noticed the issue when DOUBLE CHECKING. Everything looks good to go on my end as I have been personally successful so don't worry about it too much. Many schools have a preference for letters via AACOMAS and it really does simplify the process for ADCOMs as opposed to them trying to round up letters from various sources. Given how hectic the cycle is at is, I'm going to follow their instructions to the button.

I think what people are experiencing is that they're sending their letters to AACOMAS, everything appears fine, but when the medical school admissions office tries to open the letters, they can't.
No one can, or is trying to, access their own letters to my knowledge (which extends only to what I've read around SDN)
However, I am very curious to hear if this Interfolio to AACOMAS to medical schools issue has been fixed as of late.
I for one would rather not goof around and waste time with AACOMAS unless I was 100% sure that this problem was fixed. But I'm applying to less than 10 schools, so it's not an exorbitant cost to send my letters directly to the schools themselves. This is not the case for everyone unfortunately.

If there is this problem with AACOMAS, why have schools been sending out II's already if they dont have letters? Is this an issue with only some schools? I got an II from a school and my letters are all on AACOMAS. I know LECOM's started Interviews early.
It might just be an issue when sending from Interfolio -> AACOMAS.
That's exactly what I did though...It might just be an issue when sending from Interfolio -> AACOMAS.

Interesting! Do you remember what day you sent them in? This may provide some insight on whether or not the problem is fixed.
Also, did you apply to more than just a few schools? None of them have said anything about not being able to read the LORs?

I applied to 13 schools
1 said they have problems with the LORs. Another gave me an II with no mention of issues.
