OMGeebus!

Straight from AACOM website:

"The AACOMAS applications for 2010 will open May 1, 2009 at 10AM EST."

I was hoping it would open at midnight, which is why I am still awake...

****, I'll never be able to sleep tonight. I gotta get up and request transcripts, final edits to the PS, so much to do so much to dooooooo.

Ok in all seriousness I hope everyone is ready cause its time for the class of 2014! Let the insanity begin!!

😀

hahh, i was going to stay up too!!! yep, let the games begin.

AAAAHHHHHHHHH!!! 😱 :scared: 😀

I'm feeling a mixture of joy, excitement, terror, and nerves.

Anyone else?

haha i had the exact same reaction as you guys! and so the process begins....

Why do you people want to literally apply at 10AM? Jesus, relax.

In six weeks, you'll wonder why you hurried so much.

Regardless, good luck everyone. 🙂

I had my application sent in early August. You guys put me to shame.

Thankfully I still got in somewhere.

Well I'll be this excited next year.🙁🙁

yea, no need to do it asap. You guys are probably the only ones who will do it so soon. just make sure you fill everything out carefully. good luck!

It's not like we are going to submit tommorow. I just want to enter in a little info so I can send in my transcripts. I still need to finish my ps, so I'm nervous about being behind in the game. This is the motivation to kick myself into high gear!

I'm excited too! 😀 But I won't submit tomorrow and won't be complete until September... after I take my MCAT in July 🙁 😛

You can submit before you take the MCAT; don't wait for it.

make sure you guys read your applications over plenty of times!
show them to a family member or two, and have them proof read things too.
youll need as many eyeballs as you can to spot the little mistakes you might have hidden in your essay and descriptions...
Good luck guys~! :luck:

Good luck everyone! Make sure before you submit that your grammar is perfect and that you have the personal statement that you feel is your best writing (have a professional read it from your college if you can). You are still way early so it's best to make it perfect because you can't change your entries once you submit.

Again, I wish all of you the best!

you can submit as soon as the application pool opens.

^ When is that usually?

My understanding is that applications generally open sometime in May, but they can't actually be submitted until June. Is that just with MD schools, or are DO schools the same?

Don't think you can submit until June 1st.
If I submit within the week for verification, depending on when my transcripts get to AACOMAS, I still have a 4-6 week verification process which means I would be submitting a little later in June 😀 Potentially behind schedule already!

Oh snap. Next year's group of neurotic premeds dives in again!

Good luck guys.

Don't think you can submit until June 1st.

Somebody actually called AACOM couple of days ago and found out that you CAN submit it starting today.

Good luck, my future colleagues. I'm still reviewing Personal Statements so shoot me a PM if you need a fresh set of eyes for it.

Good luck to all applying this year! Its a hellish process, but the end result is totally worth it. Click submit and have your checkbooks at the ready😀

put in your transcript requests now and have them sent over the AACOMAS now. Remember, most schools do not screen. Find out if the secondary is on-line (UMDNJ-SOM's is) and once you submit your primary (AACOMAS) start working on those secondaries. Once you are verified and you know that you can submit secondaries send them in.

In our school admission favors the early applicant. We do not screen so just send in your secondary once it is ready.

Good luck to you all. Remember, to read, re-read, and then have someone else read it. Like a librarian (someone who does not know you) to see if your message of why you want to get into medical school can get it from your PS.

Anxiously clicking the "refresh" button now. The faster I click, the sooner the application opens. Also, it brings me one step closer to carpal tunnel.

Wow, time really flies. Best of luck to everyone! :luck:

Good luck to all of you new applicants. If anyone wants to save a copy of their current AACOMAS application, they have 30 minutes to do so before AACOMAS deletes it.

Just a quick clarification from Interfolio: Not only will your 2008/2009 application be saved, but you will also be able to copy information from the 2008/2009 application to this year's application if you are reapplying. Good luck to all applicants!

Thanks,

Jack

Glad I found this thread!

And that "rollover" from last year's app really made things easier. Wayyy easier than the AMCAS app. Thanks Interfolio!

I thought you were applying this year?

Yes, I was going to apply but it would have been late in the game. So I decided (painfully) that I will just wait until next cycle so I can apply early and have a much better chance of getting admitted. I'm still hurting because I was really wanted to apply this cycle, but oh well I rather do it right the first time. I wish you success this cycle though🙂.

OMFG what just happened... Half an hour ago I was entering courses, finished entering ALL of them... now the whole damn thing is blank. :scared:

Ok...I'm a re-app (3rd time...ugh) and I'm simply refreshing last years app.

Question that I can't seem to find an answer to...do we need to re-send transcripts if they haven't changed since last years app? OR are those simply refreshed as well?

Oh, thank Buddha... it's all reappeared.

Strike that question...you DO have to re-submit your transcripts.

Okay, I'm getting really confused... It's letting me enter stuff in the 2009 application, and that stuff is not showing up in the 2010 application, and I can't figure out when I'm entering stuff in 2009 vs. in 2010.

omg, this entire thread is scaring me:scared:
I feel like such a slacker now (I cannot believe some of you have already finished your application!). I have to wait b/c of money issues.
Good luck to everyone though:luck:

My advisor said there is a new roll over feature on the 2010 apps where your listed coursework gets carried over for reapplicants. I am not sure whether this would be the case for people who just filled out the 2009 app for fun/before the new one opened.

I hear ya, Binko. My app has been screwy all day. I'm sure its just the first day jitters.

I can see this thread becoming an AACOMAS questions thread rather quickly. If and when it does, maybe someone could merge it? Maybe CB? CB is my favorite thread merger 🙂. (no offense to other mods)

I filled one out in March thinking that "2009 application" meant for applicants applying in 2009, and was able to roll all my info. over to the 2010 application, thank God!

Quick question - Under the section called Personal Statement I see the text box where we paste our statement, but what is the question??

What kind of essay are we supposed to write, it doesnt say what the Personal Statement Question is.

Also one more question - Under Transcript tab, it says to use the Transcript Request form link but I cannot find that link???

The question is: "Why Medicine?" Since you're applying to osteopathic schools, I'd also work in "why osteopathic medicine" in there.

Is it necessary to submit the aacomas transcript request form to your school?

Call or email them to ask. I can't remember if it was AMCAS or AACOMAS who said that it wasn't crucial to submit the request form last year. For one of them, I didn't and for one, I did.

Good luck, everyone!

From the personal statement stuff I have read (from older applications, books I have, etc.) the question is basically "Why medicine?"

However, it can be more appropriately broken down into:

- Why have you selected the field of medicine?
- What motivates you to learn more about medicine?
- What do you want medical schools to know about you that hasn't been disclosed in another section of the application?

To your second question: You must first select at least one college that you attended before the link pops up - it threw me for a loop too.

Hope this helps!

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!:luck:

I was in your guys shoes last year and I know how stressfully this can be. :scared:
