We talked about this some on another thread. A few of us that had a fee waiver or paid with a money order (mailed in 2 weeks ago now) are getting very frustrated, and I just needed to vent. If you use these methods, you can't access the application status check page to logon until they process your money order. However, if you pay with a credit card, you get immediate access, and these people are getting processed within like 7 days. I submitted 2 weeks ago and I can't even logon to the status check, much less be processed. I called them on Monday, and they said they don't know if they have my money order and fee waiver letter yet because they have not even checked last weeks mail yet. Furthermore, I tried to call them again Friday, and they were closed during their so called "normal business hours". Why? This is so frustrating and unfair. I know I am overreacting, but I actually feel kinda discriminated against because I am poor and had to use a fee waiver rather than pay with a credit card, causing my application to be held up and take longer. Anyone else having these sort of problems? Thank you SDN, for providing a place to vent!

i'm only going to submit my app, thanks for venting and letting others of us know what we're getting into.

Good luck. I will tell you one thing, AACOMAS has got nothing on AMCAS. AMCAS had me processed in only 5 days!

You could go to a major super-market near your house and ask for a pre-paid credit card. It's simple, you put money on a card, they issue a credit card with the amount you paid for, and once you run out, you can either toss it or add more money to it. This beats sending money orders and definetly speeds up the process.

Technically, it's not a credit card (because you can't purchase anything on credit with it) but it is a visa/mastercard and allows you to pay as a credit card consumer and simplifies the process.

Oh, I have a credit card. However, if you have afee waiver, you MUST use a money order for all the schools you are applying to(above the 3 the fee waiver cover) and send it in. That's why I am saying it feels discriminating to us poor people.

Oh...that is pretty ******ed....so basically, with an apfee waiver, you get to apply free to 3 schools and anything above that, you are forced to pay with a MO, even if you have a CC? -- that is definetly not fair and especially because it takes considerably longer to process your app with a MO

You've got it. like I said, it sucks! 😡

I feel your pain :/

Seriously, if my account isn't activated by tomorrow, I'm going to make the person on the phone sort through the mail himself and find my damn money order. They can't just leave me hanging until they get around to sorting the mail 😛

There are advantages to waiting for your fee waiver to process. I know that with AMCAS, some sAMCAS schools will waive your secondary fee if you received a fee waiver. It may be the same with AACOMAS schools.
