So I basically took molecular biology (DNA/RNA stuff) in Fall 2014 and got a C- in it. Now I'm currently taking Introductory Biology with Lab part A while applying.
While filling out the application I decided to take a shot in the dark and mark molecular biology as a "retake" and the introductory biology with lab Part A being the course that would replace it (different school but has a higher unit count than molecular bio).
I assumed there would be SOME overlap so it would be worthy to try for it to count. If not, I assumed someone at AACOMAS would edit it to include the C- credits in my GPA and not view it as a retake.
So I was looking at my application right now after submitting to programs and getting secondaries. I noticed that the molecular bio course was not marked at "repeated" but it showed 0.00 for the amount of credits I earned. The current intro bio course I'm taking hasn't been verified yet because it's still in progress but I'm freaking out because I'm afraid the C- might be factored back into my GPA (after my grades for intro bio come in). My sGPA is low so I'm afraid I won't meet the cutoffs for the schools I applied to (or will get rescinded) if they apply the 4.00 credits back to the C- grade.
I think my main question is, if it shows 0.00 for credits earned but still shows the C- for the grade, will it still show up on my GPA? I'm hoping it does because I don't want my GPA to drop if it's corrected.
Do they verify course equivalencies after the grade for the repeated course is in (and verified) or do they do it before when you mark it as repeated? I was reading online and AACOMAS stated that it's up to us to enter it correctly??? Like what's the point of verification if they won't help verify equivalencies???
I'm freaking out because I thought my current sGPA had the C- grade in it from the molecular bio course. I emailed them to see what I can do about it but I feel sick to my stomach that my already low sGPA will get a little lower due to my repeat not counting as such. I also feel like I "cheated" the system a little because the C- was not counted into my gpa and I got secondaries based on that GPA. It's so against my morals on integrity.
