Can anybody post the question on the AADSAS application regarding criminal records? The one for the AMCAS is posted below. Basically I was arrested and charged with a crime, but the charges were dropped. So I am pretty sure I do not have to disclose it.

Now for those of you who have received their secondaries, do any of them ask if you have ever been ARRESTED? Whether the charges were dropped or not? If so, can you name which schools asks for arrests?

“Have you ever been convicted of, or pleaded guilty or no contest to, a Felony crime, excluding 1) any offense for which you were adjudicated as a juvenile, or 2) convictions which have been expunged or sealed by a court (in states where applicable)? ”
You need NOT disclose any instance where you:
· were arrested but not charged;

* were arrested and charged, but the charges were dropped;

* were arrested and charged, but found not guilty by a judge or jury;

* were arrested and found guilty by a judge or jury, but the conviction was overturned on appeal;

Here are the discipline/arrest-related questions from the 2010-2011 AADSAS:

Have you ever been disqualified, suspended, dismissed, or otherwise subject to a disciplinary action at any college or university in connection with your academic performance?

Have you ever been found to have violated a school rule, policy or procedure, or an honor code; or have you otherwise been disqualified, put on probation, suspended, dismissed, expelled, or otherwise been subject to disciplinary action at any college/university in connection to misconduct? Please include any and all instances of misconduct, regardless of whether the school maintains a record of such misconduct or formal action, or whether it appears on your transcript.

Are you currently under charge or have you ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor, other than minor traffic violations?

Great, thanks for that post. Any ideas on which schools have secondaries that ask about ARRESTS?

I wouldn't worry about schools who have secondaries with questions about arrest. They will all find out if you get accepted. Almost every school has mandatory Background checks (that you have to pay for whcih is b.s.) prior to matriculation. So just be prepared to explain yourself.

Yes, this is true! I found out the hard way that even a simple ticket will come up on a background check. Disclose everything in your AADSAS application so you don't come off as trying to hide something. I had to write the committee board a letter of explanation as to why I did not disclose my ticket on my applications. My reasoning was because I did not know it was a charged misdemeanor (not convicted). So, be sure you either disclose the info or have a good explanation!

no point hiding it.

As the above post mentioned, you are gonna have to run a background check. They'll know everything so tell them everything beforehand.

That's strange since the AADSAS question (see above) specifically excludes minor traffic violations. Unless your ticket was more than "minor"...

It wasn't a ticket for a traffic violation. That's about as in-depth as I'd like to go lol 😉

Hey,

I have a quick question: I just did my background check and I was a little shocked when I saw the results. Apparently, I had a misdemeonor charge in 2007 for driving with no license. I dont know if the schools consider it as minor traffic violation or not. The charge was closed and was ordered to pay 150 fine for it and didnt go to jail for it. I dont know what you had going on but could you please tell me what you ended up doing about that situation? You can pm me please. I am freaking out right now.:scared:
