I've been reading posts throughout SDN and I can't find a constant answer in regards to DAT score reports for AASDA.

I read that AASDA will upload the Official DAT scores from ADA this year in order to have them in our applications.

but... I read that a few members have called AASDA, and have been told to directly send out Official DAT scores to the schools they are applying directly and pay the $25 per school. (Maybe this is for supplemental apps only?)

I just wanted to know if anyone has an accurate account of what is correct.

Sorry if I am repeating a thread.

AADSAS is telling people to pay. People are telling us that they didn't, any the schools still got the scores. I think I'm going to wait it out, apply, and contact the schools and see if they got my scores. I already chose my top 5 schools (free at the time of enrolling to take the DAT), so there should not be a delay there-- but I don't think one week or two will affect the other schools (as far as waiting to see if they get the scores through AADSAS, and if they don't, that's when I'll pay another 300 to ADA).

I just called AADSAS, which told me to call the ADA.

After calling the ADA, this is what I understand:

1. AADSAS will upload your DAT score from the ADA as long as you put in your DENTPIN and Test Date in regards to AADSAS having your DAT score.

2. If schools want an OFFICIAL DAT Score Report, they should state it in their supplemental instructions, and that is when you contact ADA, pay the $25, and send the DAT score directly to the dental school.

word. this is exactly what AADSAS told me too! I'm hoping my schools don't want official scores from ADA 😀

I am kind of surprised that the AADSAS representatives direct us to ADA. I would think they have been trained to answer such an important question or maybe find out once many applicants called in. Oh well, this is a much better and cheaper answer than sending the scores to all the schools on top of AADSAS's uploading.

I received completely different instructions from an ADA representative on the phone. She told me that in order for AADSAS to even release DAT scores to a given school, that school needs to be selected to be sent the official scores through ADA (at $25 per school, if not selected at the time of DAT registration).

So, who knows? It could just be a cash grab.
