I'm researching the whole dental school application process, and a friend of mine that happens to be a dental student told me that the AADSAS calculated GPA is actually different from the one that appears on the university transcript. Is this true?
If so, what is the basis of AADSAS's calculations? Does it depend on what type of college you complete your coursework at? For example I did a couple years of community college....If I had a GPA of 3.6, will AADSAS calculate it to be less than that because of the fact that it's not a four year university?? Or does a course taken at an ivy league school count for more than a course from a regular state university😕??

All of my CC classes were counted towards my GPA. The discrepancy comes up mostly regarding your science GPA since they don't consider a lot of courses as science that you might. Your overall could be off too depending on if you look at the GPA with +/- or w/o.
Also, if you failed anything and then retook it, your AADSAS GPA will count both scores.
As far as weighting your GPA at a CC versus 4 yr univ or brainy Ivy league, it's up to the school. Some say they prefer no prereq work done at a CC. But that's likely flexible if everything else looks good.
