AADSAS called me today to confirm that my application was complete and that mailings would begin tomorrow and then be every Friday from here out. I had previously emailed regarding transfer credits, so they called back about that initially, DON'T WORRY IF THEY DON'T CALL YOU!!! Mailings start tomorrow, and I'm not sure if they will update that immediately in status, but by next Friday it should be updated on your profile page.

i took the DATs today, and i also updated my AADSAS application about my scores. do the schools get that score in the "mailed printout", or is it too late since they start mailing it out tomorrow? and yes, i already requested official score reports.

Official scores are mailed out by the ADEA directly to dental schools. You don't even have to enter in your DAT scores on your AADSAS application and you'll still be fine. 🙂

i'm going to sound really uninformed...but i just recently decided that i may want to apply to dental schools. all throughout college i was premed, but i've been thinking more and more about dentistry. i have all the pre-reqs, but other than taking the DATS, what do i need to do? and what is the timeline like? (apply by what date, etc.)

You need a PASSION for dentistry.

I don't mean to call you out, but did you just take the mcat? The reason I ask is because many people I know have been receiving their scores recently, and it seems around this time is when this question starts to pop up. If this is not your case I apologize in advance.

First, its called the DAT, but whatever. Um... you need like.... shadowing and to get a dentist to write you a good ref, if you're thinking of applying now, you're pretty screwed. Rockstar, In response to the mcat thing, you're probably right, ppl are posting stuff like they got < 16 on that thing (dunno how that happens really... that's pretty hard to do)...

I'll be the nice guy.

You need to take the DAT, get some experience in the field, and explain really well why you just decided on dental school. You should do this now until the start of next cycle (Mid-May 2007) because it's simply too late to get experience in at this stage. If all you had to do was the DAT then you can still turn your AADSAS application in.

By the way, some members seem to really hate premed to predental students. But not me. =)

no it's understandable that you may hate the premed to predent students, because some of you guys have probably known that you've wanted to be a dentist for forever now.

in response to rockstardmd...no, i didn't take the mcat in april, so this isn't about bad scores. i've shadowed a dentist before, so i guess i just need to prepare for the DAT and get on that application asap.

Through some of your other posts it seems you have been looking into post bac programs. So, if your mcat scores are not your problem it seems you may be concerned about your GPA. If this is the case switching to dentistry will not solve your problem. The 2006 cycle was the most competitive cycle yet and current stats indicate that 2007 stats are set to exceed them. Before you spend money applying to a program, maybe it would be best to see what you could do to improve your stats and gain acceptance to med school.

No i'm not pulling your leg, people keep saying taking DAT in early august is still fine and early cause app wont' get there by that time anyway. So is mine just gonna sit there till end of july or is there still a time lag? Confused about this situation.

Chances are they won't look at it until everything is together...that's just from my experience.

I've just checked my AADSAS application, and under status it says "Printout not mailed yet."

WTF?!!! I'm hoping and praying real hard that AADSAS sends out the hard copy some time next week. 😡

OK, I have a question about this transcripts thing. I ordered all my transcripts the day after the application cycle opened. AADSAAS apparently recieved two out of the three transcripts. I checked on it, and called around, and checked on it, and called around some more. Finally I just ordered another copy and, hallelujah, AADSAAS finally recognized that they got em. My question is, how long do you think it will take them to get my GPA? The transcript was only for two classes, is it still going to take them 4-6 weeks?

it says that it usually takes 4-8 weeks . but mine,, i dont know,Somehow I got my GPAs two days after AADSAS got all my transcripts. it was FAST!!!

Same thing happened to me - one of the transcripts I'd requested in mid-May went MIA at AADSAS for over a month 😡 before they confirmed that they'd received it (10 days ago). It only took them 5 days to calculate my GPA and post it (I was shocked at how fast!) so keep your hopes up... I'd say if you see no change in your GPA/transcript verification after a week just call them. Good luck to you! 🙄
