You see a record “your application has been sent…” and think that everything OK, right? Wrong! My records said that my application has been sent out on July 21st. Yesterday I saw a new record under Status -> Designated Schools. It said “Revisions mailed on the 12th of August”. I didn’t know what it was about since I didn’t anticipate any revisions of my records. I phoned them today and someone named Jetta first told me that this record is just a mistake, and after I demanded a more reasonable explanation, she talked to a manager and told me that AADSAS had lost all the information in the Extracurricular Activities section of my application (it might have happened to other people, she didn’t say), just retrieved it, and now sent it out. I could not believe my ears. First that it happened and they never informed me (I could have resubmitted the info), and second that the customer service representative didn’t know what was going on and gave me some bs answer. Good thing that I didn’t know about all of this before it was fixed, I would be warring not stop. But who knows – they might be missing another part of my application. Nothing is certain with AADSAS. After having 5 conversations with 3 representatives in the last 2 weeks, I got nowhere – they gave me contradictory information which I can’t believe in regards to my foreign transcript. Those people are there just to say that AADSAS has customer service department. They’ll say/promise anything just to get you off the phone. This is just a part of my story, I can share the rest if someone is interested. It might tell you what to watch out for when talking to their customer service representatives. At this point I don’t believe a word they are saying and can’t do anything about it. It’s driving me nuts! Everything is the hands of people who don’t care about the consequences of their action or inaction. I wish there would be something that we can do about it… Just be aware that part of your application might be missing. It happened.

All the more reason why applicants must get their applications in early, as you did. It doesn't eliminate AADSAS errors, but it does give some flext time should errors occur.

Sorry to hear your story.

I understand your frustration, as me and gurl21 had an issue regarding gpa calculation issues. Lets just say I called them 6 times, emailed them 3 times, got really mad the last time, then got an answer from the director of aadsas herself. They're full of crap when you want answers, but when you get mad, they somehow find the answer you're looking for.

Finally...I knew I couldn't possibly be the only one affected by the blank extracurricular section...I found out it was blank when I called a school and asked them to update my shadowing hours. Since then AADSAS has sent a 2nd application (which was also blank) and as far as I know it still hasn't been fixed. However, I sent schools an e-mail detailing what was in the section and they have placed that in my file and will consider it during the review...just got an interview so I guess that's working. 🙂

But, noone should trust that their app is complete without having a school specifically go thru each section...which is horribly lame because it risks alienating the school.

Hey Mocha, I'm sorry to hear about what happened to your extra curricular activities section. When did AADSAS mailout your aap? I still haven't recieved any interviews but i'm eagerly waiting and hopefull.

Hey KM5, I got the the same message under my AADSAS file. It said that a Revision was mailed out on Aug 12. My application was originally sent out on July 22. I called them yesterday, and this lady quickly told me it was nothing just ignored it. I can't believe they actually lost our files!! I have to call them again today and the schools to make sure.

By the way, I haven't received any secondary application or interview invitation yet. It kinda bothers me. Hope that's not of reason of incompleted file.

Good luck

How ridiculous. You would think that they would have more consideration for our time, AND money!

I too called to ask a question (not related to losing part of my app). I never got through, but from the sound of it, I wouldn't have been helped anyway.

Hopefully everything will work out in the end and they'll get their act together.

My app was mailed out July 7th and my DAT scores were recieved by schools August 11th or 12th...hang in there, I'm sure with your gpa, degree, and DAT scores you will get interviews. 😉

How do we check if there has been a mistake made? I hate calling AADSAS they have the worst customer service. I have checked the sections online and all seem to be present so I don’t know what to think now.

I found out about the blank section from a school and then asked them to look for others during the same call. I think the problem only affected the extracurricular section. Also, I could see everything I entered in that section on the website, so there was no way for us to notice the mistake. When I called AADSAS they told me it wasn't possible for a section to be blank. Anyhow, I think they have actually fixed the problem now (which may have only affected the first batch mailed). The lady at AADSAS told me that the printer might have run out of ink when it was printing that section. I'd maybe just call a school that you don't think you have much of a chance at (a strategy that won't work for you 😉 ) and ask them whether they have that section of your app.

What did the director of aadsas tell you about the gpa calculation situation?

I also had a major problem with AADSAS losing pieces of my application. I had originally applied to about 10 schools or so and after calling each school INDIVIDUALLY and talking with someone in the admissions dept. I learned that only 5 of the 10 schools received all my information. The 5 schools were missing several items namely all 4 LOR's I had sent. Unbelievable that we are forced to pay thousands of dollars for this. Apply early and check often with both AADSAS and your schools. AADSAS does have an 800 number and you can really probe them for info. Be hard nosed but not rude and you'll get answers. Good luck everyone.
