i was wondering about putting up the number of credits for courses completed at schools on semester system and quarter system. for the quarter system, should we have converted the quarter hours into semester hours or leave it as it appears on the transcript (in quarter hour form).

also, what if you went to an undergrad school that used 0.5 credits for half-year courses and 1.0 credits for full-year courses?

i will have to call AADSAS. any insights much appreciated.

the only reason i ask is because when i was researching this topic, i noticed that this has come up a lot in the past and it seemed as if they had to convert their credits back then. now, the instructions make no mention of this.

In order for you to calculate the ADEA GPA, you have to convert everything into Semester hours. This is the guideline that helps you to calculate your GPA according to quality semester hours.

Hope this helps 🙂

I'd like to say that it's 3 and 6, respectively. I'm not too sure if it changes for lectures/lab courses/ tutorial hours though....Let us know if you find out!

for calculating GPA, i can understand the need to convert credit hours into a semester hour system. however, if inputting credit hours for coursework completed, should i base this off of the transcripts? and AADSAS can change it as they see it fit for any other purpose?

If you're on the quarter system I think you're supposed to specify the term type as quarter and enter in credits as quarter hours and aadsas converts them to semester hours when they are calculating your GPA.

So is "5 credits" at a university on a quarter system "5 quarter hours" ? Sorry if it's a stupid question, I just really don't want to screw this part of the application and have to resubmit corrections later.

i nearly lost track of my own thread. i'm pretty sure for the coursework section that you're supposed to convert everything into semester hours.

"In order for your GPAs to be calculated you must list your coursework with semester or quarter hours rather than course credits/units, even if your transcript lists course credits/units". (ADEA AADSAS General Instructions pdf pg 27)

So my question is can we enter a "5 credit" class taken at a quarter system school as "5 quarter hours"? I'm kind of confused about the difference between credits/units and quarter hours... PLEASE HELP!!
