I am planning to take my DAT around the end of june. What is the advantage of turning in my AADSAS application when it first comes out in mid may when i know schools won't look at it? Also, i have taken the DAT before and am wondering if schools will be able to see my old score even though i am retaking it.

Send AADSAS out asap b/c it take them forever to verify your transcripts and then maill out the package to the schools. The DAT gets to schools pretty rapidly by comparison, so if yo take it at the end of June they'll probably arrive at schools at the same time.
And yes, when you send out DAT scores every take and retake is shown. Depends on the school though as far as how they look at multiple scores.

Average time for DAT scores to get to schools: 2 weeks
Average time for AADSAS app to get to schools: 6 weeks

If you are planning on taking the DAT in the end of June, it would behoove you to submit your app near or shortly after it opens up.


Assuming you haven’t sent you old DAT score out to schools already, they will only see it along with the new (and hopefully better!) score you send them in June. Because of this, don’t worry that by submitting you app before your new DAT, that they will reject you due to your old score without seeing the new.

I believe when i was signing up for the test, i selected schools that i would like to send my scores to. Your post above is a slightly confusing. On my aadsas application, if i check that i am retaking the DAT, will they see my old scores?

All schools that you are applying to will see both scores eventually. When you take the DAT the second time around, the ADA will send both scores out to all the schools you requested (are applying to).

What I was trying to say, is that some schools may already know your first score, because you may have had that score sent out to some schools when you took the firs test.

By marking that you are retaking the DAT, most schools will hold off on taking further with your app (ignore the first score temporarily), until the second is received. From that point on schools do different things with the multiple tests. Most will just look at the recent one, while others may use some sort of combination of scores.
