i just realized how screwed i am.

i currently have a 3.1 transcript gpa with a 3.2 sci, but because of the repeat course policy look below for my stats. personally, i think its unfair b/c different schools have different policies and its what differentiates easy schools from difficult schools or reputable schools from non-reputable schools. harvard for example lets students drop a class up till the last day of class but probably doesnt have a grade replacement policy, but then again, its harvard!! my school does not have a reputable name maybe b/c of its grade policy or whatever. every school is different we are not all equal according to AADSAS. does anyone else agree with me. i debating whether or not to contact a lawyer to get my grade changed or my money back.

Dentist: Oh I'm so sorry! I accidentally extracted a tooth that could have been restored. But don't worry, I'll just refer you to a specialist to get an implant. You'll be good as new!

This situation is analagous to yours...you ended up getting an A finally, but only after messing things up in the first place. There is a big difference between doing things right the first time and EVENTUALLY getting it right.

etan4 - are you trying to piss people off do you have a piss off personlity? i've seen a few of your posts like that.

aadsas repeat policy sucks, i agree but there isn't much you can do. hiring a lawyer will prob be not in your best interest. maybe contacting your university and getting the previous grades off your transcipt might help you. let me tell you, dentistry is a very discouraging field, so keep your head up high and never give up. good luck.

That's the biggest load of crap I've ever heard. I mean, come on people! I wish I could retake some of my courses too, then I'd have a 4.0. Any yeah, I'd love to contact my school and tell them to erase any B on my transcript.

The fact is, AADSAS makes thing fair and level. If I repeat a course at my school, the old grade would still count. Why should you have an unfair advantage because you go to some third rate institution where it takes you 2 or 3 times to get the grade you need?

PS I hope you hire a lawyer who had to repeat all his classes too. Bet he'd do a grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat job for you :D

I don't see how hiring a lawyer is going to change the fact that you did poorly in some courses and had to repeat them. Getting a C and then retaking it for an A is not the same as getting an A the first time around -- that is why AADSAS counts both of your grades. I'm sorry the rules didn't work in your favor but you're just going to have to suck it up.

What exactly is the repeat policy? Is it that they don't even count your repeated class into the GPA. Or is it that they count both into your GPA? I personally think it is fair to count both but if they don't even take into consideration the repeated course grade, now...that's not fair.

I think they count both...which is more than fair.

aadsas takes the average of original and repeated course grade. It is fair because it standardizes GPAs across different institutions. It might not give you as high of a GPA as you'd like, but c'est la vie.

Keep your chin up, go take a masters program, re-take that DAT, or go work for a while so you have something to show for on your resume, whatever works. Best of luck.

what if you get an F and an A, what would the result be?

I'd say a 2.0

thats just great , cuz I am in the same position. I had to take differential equations 2x (its like engineering calc 4/5) ..and balls hard. I went from d to B. This is disturbing news .. I will be getting owned.

Thats funny, you would contact a lawyer to write you a letter to get back a couple of hundred bucks and then he would in turn charge you about $500 to do so.

hahahahahah

please tell me more!
