I plan to apply 18-19 schools, and based on my calculation it should be around $1490 for AADSAS.

And since most schools want the secondary application as well as official transcript (from two different institutions in my case... each time I send the transcript it will cost $30 total) sent directly to their admission office this will cost another $1300.

In total, $2800??? This seems way too much given that the travel expenses haven't been taken into account yet.

Am I correct in calculation? My parents aren't obviously helping me at all as all the expenses doing pre-dental have come out of my own pocket.

How are you guys paying for all this?

You sure about that transcript fact. B/c it just does not make sense. Why would schools want to see your transcript when aadsas send them a nice summary or all the grades categorized into diff. gpa's You are worng about that fact.

My secondary will come up 1500+ dat sores 600+ ~1k for primaries
+travel.
I am working now like 30 hours a week & i have been saving up eversince i was 13 while working. b/c i know a day like this would come.

Majority of the schools DO NOT have secondary applications.

Out of the schools I applied, there were: UCSF, UCLA, U of Michigan, UNLV,

Midwestern, ASDOH, Western just to name a few.

Majority of the schools require you to send Application processing fee which

can range from 30 ~ 70 dollars depending on the institutions.

Also only UCLA wanted official transcripts along with your secondary, and U

of Michigan wanted it from those that receive interview offers.

your addsas calculation is about right. the application fee for each school is usually 60-75 per school. so yes, you are looking at some major expenses.

however, you can apply for a fee reduction with addsas, and based on your need it will give you u to a half of it off (half of the addsas fees). but in any case, yes these expenses are ridiculous.

I thought they only waive the first school application fee (~$227). Anyone else?

so you might totally understand this already but....

basically you have AADSAS fees, AADSAS transcript sending fees, and the schools' own application fees (some want it when you submit aadsas, others want it for a secondary app). But then you factor in the DAT application, DAT score sending, mailing the transcript to AADSAS and several other schools periodically, and travel/interviews, etc...it get's very spendy.

I would reduce the number of schools you are applying to. Pick your state school, your undergrad. school if applicable and different from your state school, and a couple others that are OOS friendly (private school, or Indiana for ex.), maybe one that a family member attended. In hindsight, I should have only applied to like 6 schools, instead of 9.

So I applied to 15 schools. I spent $2145, just on AADSAS and secondary application fees. Add on top the $1400 for a Kaplan class, and then the ~$400 something for the DAT. Then I flew out for 8 interviews. Add up all the expenses for traveling with everything else, I spent over $8000.

How did I pay for it? I got a job. Simple as that. If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way to pay for it.

Would I do it all again if I had to? Yup. It was worth it all. I got into 4 schools and got to choose where I wanted to go. The traveling to interviews was fun and I got to see the entire country.
