I've heard that even with good stats, when its too late in the game, classes fill and you dont get in. I am sooo ticked off at AADSAS, Its taking them a dam 5-6 weeks to process my letters of recomendation before they can send them. I could have just had the profs send them directly if I knew AADSAS sucked that bad. I think they need to make serious changes to whatever the hell they are doing or not doing. They can B%$#$ all day about how this year there are more apps then last year, but ya know what, they should be ready for that. I know, I know I did apply pretty late, I submitted my AADSAS in the begining of october but that doesnt justify thier lack or organization. All I know is that changes need to happen within AADSAS or they need to be changed with another goup. Maybe some competition will get thier act together. Hay we live in a market economy, that might just make them work harder if we could choose who we want to send our apps.

anyway, good luck to everyone and I hope you get to go to your school of choice 🙂

man... good luck. i hate the feeling of just haveing to sit there and wait while somebody else holds your fate in their hands. hope your letters get out soon...

I'm sorry AADSAS sucks. Can you still send those LORs directly to D-schools now? Even if AADSAS sends them later, the schools would already have them in their hands!

hey, i just started my undergrad and noticed you had a really good gpa(i think), do you mind telling me what your grades were? i recently received a 2.5 in a class and was wondering if u received any C's in any of ur classes, btw what schools are you planning on applying into? which do you think you have a 100% chance of getting into

I couldn't agree with you more. It is the biggest load of crap I have dealt with in the application process. There is absolutely no accountability. It doesn't matter what mistakes they make you have no course of action. They messed up on my application, it took them 12 weeks send my appliaction to the schools. I serioiusly felt so helpless, they have no understanding of the process or the emotions that we dental students have invested in this. I feel your pain. 😡

Yes, I can still send the LORs to the schools directly but I have 5 recomenders and it just seems annoying haveing to do so.

I, for one, am so happy to be done w/ AADSAS. It was a huge pain going through them (several mistakes, long process time, etc.) but what can you do? 🙁

Good luck on your application.

AADSAS = pointless middle-men that just slowed down the application process for at least 1 full month. We pay extra money to them for what? calculating our GPAs? Sure, it's slightly more convenient for the dental schools, but it sure as hell a hassle for us who are applying to the schools. The AADSAS adds absolutely nothing to the application process. Why can't we have lets say a common application that is sent directly to the dental schools instead of going through AADSAS? God, AADSAS should burn in hell

I have seen so many people getting screwed by AADSAS. I ahve had pretty smooth time with AADSAS but I know they suck and thier service is the worst. I have a dream that someday Dental Schools will realize that AADSAS is a piece of crap and will get rid of it.

yeah..i'm not sure why it takes aadsas so long to do anything. i mean, isn't this ALL they do? why does it take 1+ month to send out one application to the schools? sounds rather ridiculous considering they don't have anything else to do.

My theory is that they take sooooo long because nothing or no one is forcing them to hurry up. All we can do is call...be polite b/c we dont want them to get mid-evil on us and del. our app. Kinda like when our profs tell us that we have 3 months to turn in a paper, and eventhough we start it and finish it in the last 2 days, we let it sit there the whole time, AADSAS isnt restricted by any group. Each year as the numbers of denal applicants increases ever so slightly, AADSAS says "OOOOHHH this years' number of applicants has never been seen or heard of, and thats why we are slooooowwww."

Totally, or at the very least there needs to be some pressure on them to reform thier procedures. What they also could use is team of MBAs and business consultants to come and re-organize the way they do things so they are also efficient. Sometimes when I call AADSAS, just by the lingo or terms they use, they remind me of the workers at the DMV.

Just like every other aspect in life. YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE. 😴

I applied in May and got in with horrible stats.

How about another saying, THOSE THAT WANT IT GO GET IT.

I have a bunch more! Quit crying. We all went through it, your not the only one. 😴

I think Hot Pickle misses the point that you should not be at the mercy of AADSAS at any point in the application process. They are a business, a service which we all are forced to pay for. When I pay $, I expect service. I submitted my filled out app in late August. UAB never saw that app until mid Nov. They wouldn't verify my transcript due to their error; however, nobody answered their phone for almost 4 weeks when I called some 20 times a day from work. When they did answer they told me they had stopped answering customer serv. phone calls for some time and that verification of trans. was subbed out to a company somewhere out West. Why do I have to enter my transcript online, send them an official copy of it, and then wait for them to verify they match; all while my school of choice has their own off. copy?? That is a useless service I hate to admit I supported.

My advice to all is if you have AADSAS trouble, don't whine or cry to your schools; however, do call and tell them and see if they can guide you. UAB sent me a secondary early so the day AADSAS did their job I was called and given an interview.

At the end of the day it doesnt matter who you are. With out accountbility you arent driven to complete a task in a timely manner and in a correct matter. AADSAS needs competition so they can make changes. Come on, I know your all pre-den. students, you need to think about it in a business mind set. With competition prices go down and quality of service goes up. What we have here now is a monopoly.

Not to mention that it is the holidays and professors are packing up for a bit of vacation themselves as well. Good luck with that.

I was a bit worried that TMDSAS (the Texas service) would be the same, but I have had zero problems from them and they were always emailing and/or calling if there was an issue with the application. So my hat's off to them.

I think that AADSAS should learn from TMDSAS. My application was verified and sent out to all 3 Texas schools in less than a month. It's been 6 months since I've submitted my AADSAS application, and some schools still don't have my status as complete. 😡

My sister's app wasn't reviewed until February. She got into all the schools she applied to and had about the same GPA as you. She scored a 21 AA and 24 PA though. So, there is still hope. Dental schools dont fill up all their seats on December 1st.

Take care,
Rich

i guess this is more of a question for dental students, but has anyone tried to do anything to reform the system? predents don't have much power since we dont want to do anything to jeapordize our chances, but then once they get accepted they probably don't care as much since it's behind them. maybe once and for all we should all try to do something about it

You know what they say...AADSAS, PAIN IN THE ASS.

hmmm, I did call AADSAS quite alot. Maybe the people here that dont get into dental school should start a new AADSAS service, I would think that would be quite profitable and it should be easy to take their business since they really SUCK !
