AADSAS total hours/units

Wondering if anyone else has run into this problem:

In my GPA calculation for total undergraduate hours it did not include my P/NP hours or AP credits and I see on my account that those were calculated separately. I received an email from a school yesterday saying that I did not meet their minimum unit requirement because my total hours was around 65 or something but that did not include my P/NP or AP credits. On my transcript I have over the 90 required units completed so I am wondering why they thought this? Is there a place on the AADSAS app that shows the verified total number of hours?

I'm trying to figure out if there is some kind of mistake here and AADSAS is only taking these kind of requests through email so its not moving very quickly. Does the 90 credits not include P/NP and AP credits? Or is this the school's mistake?

So based on your mention of AADSAS working on it through email, you did in fact already contact them about this? If not, that'd be a good first step, making sure to include specific mention of your interaction with said dental school.

I can tell you right now that by their own rule, AADSAS will not count AP courses in your credit hours calculations.

The following course types are not included in ADEA AADSAS GPA calculations.

Advanced Placement
CLEP
Audit
International Baccalaureate
Incomplete

Apparently they do the same for P/NP graded courses as well (Note the box that adds up the total hours equates to 16, which disregards the 1 hour the "P" course was worth:

Note that grades of P or Credit are not used in computing a GPA.

If AADSAS won't do anything about this, which they very well might not considering it's their own policy to do things this way regarding the types of courses you're talking about and hours calculated, you should contact the dental school in question and explain how AADSAS calculated your hours (mention succinctly the above policies), and find out if the school will then accept your P/NP and AP credits for the hours requirement. Note that some schools do not allow AP courses to count for certain requirements, even if they're on your undergrad transcript.

Good luck with this, I think you have a legitimate application and concern, I hope this dental school sees that as well.

Edit: Just contact the school and mention this right away, don't wait for AADSAS, they contacted you first about the hours problem, so they are likely ready and willing to receive a response in kind. Just make sure you're tactful and polite about it. 🙂
