Has anyone attended the annual AAEP convention? What was your experience? I am considering attending the AAEP convention in Orlando, Flordia, but I am hesitating because of cost (flight, hotel etc..).

i suppose it depends from where you're flying, but it's in Orlando... tickets aren't going to be that bad! i think it's in vegas and sacramento the next couple years adn those plane tickets will be much pricier i'd imagine. get a bunch of people to split a hotel room with you, and you're golden.

PAThbrd went last year (i'm sure she'll pipe in when she gets back) and made some great connections. it's well worth it!

don't be silly. just go.

I'd like to go, but it's during fall quarter finals... Don't think it's gonna happen🙁

Of course Ill chime in!

AAEP is awesome, I went last year in San Antonio and it was well worth every penny I paid and every minute of class I missed. I got two phenomenal externships last summer from going that I wouldn't have been able to do otherwise. I got to meet incredible people, some world renowned, learned a ton, realized that some of the stuff we were learning as first years actually was relevant, etc, etc. I actually just booked my flight to Orlando today and am very excited for this year 🙂

This may be an obvious question, but are you guys members of the national organisation? I haven't yet gotten around to doing that, but I've been meaning to.

Yes, you dont have to be. But its cheaper to join as a student member and register for the conference than it is to register as a non-member student for the conference, if that makes any sense... And if you join AAEP as a student member, you start getting The Horse and Equus magazines in the mail for free 🙂

Thanks for the advice. I decided to attend the convention. My trip has been booked!! See you there!🙂
