I just took AAMC 11 and got a devastating 28 on it and my AAMC average is a 32 on the dot. MY EXAM IS IN ABOUT A WEEK on 8/23.. The horrendously low breakdown for AAMC11 was: PS 11, VR 7 ?!?! , BS 10

I average around a 33 for Kaplan FL's as well (i've taken 7 of them with 30 being the lowest and one 40 being the highest most in the 32-33 range)

WHAT SHOULD I DO? I know the real exam will be even harder than AAMC 11 and I also know that the AAMC practice exams arent really representative in terms of difficulty... I've been consistent with my studying for 3 months and I have not really been as upset with my scores until today..

PS is usually my highest score (in the 12-13 range) followed by BS (11-12) and VR is consistently 9-11.. idk what happened on this one.. should I seriously consider voiding or just take this score to be an outlier?

😕😕

There are so many of the freakout posts recently...

Dude, it is one test. Your averages matter more than a single test. There could have been a passage that didn't "speak" to you. Just keep studying...I'm sure you will do fine.

Sometimes I wonder why I keep coming on this website when my MCAT is so near to keep seeing comments like "my average was a 33 and I got a 28 on this practice test" or "my aamc average was a 35 and I got a 29 on the real deal". It's not really good for everyone else's confidence to be seeing those things :/.

Anyways, that was probably an outlier, you did well in the sciences and that's probably how you'll do on the real test (maybe better, again, a few bad passages can come, it's sometimes about luck). The verbal, well, it's always kind of either way, I wouldn't worry too much about it

Just keep on studying, work hard, and hope for the best! anything can happen, and you do better on the actual test. 🙂

Dude thats what happened to me. I have been averaging 32s on my AAMC and I scored a 27 on AAMC 11 (PS: 10/ V: 7/ BS: 10). I normally score 10-13s on my AAMC verbals. Anyway did you take AAMC 10? How did you do? I took AAMC 10 after taking AAMC 11 and I made a 31 (which is the same as my other AAMC averages) (PS: 10/V: 10/BS: 11). The reason I screwed up AAMC 11 was because of complacency and burnout. Won't let that happen on Aug 18th, MY TEST DATE.

oh wow, 13's on verbals I wish I had that skill. Anyhow, after reviewing it I figured out its not the content i'm weak on its just the convoluted question stems that I trip up on, sometimes (and this was especially true for AAMC 11's BS) I had NO idea what the question was asking for some questions. I got half the questions in that ebola passage wrong. Its really the graph/table analysis that seems to get me on these exams rather than the content... VR honestly I think is a hit or miss at this point in the game im praying to get an 11 (or 12 if im really really lucky) on my actual exam.

I haven't done AAMC10 yet but hopefully It wont be so low. 11 was definitely a confidence killer. Thanks guys, and good luck on your exam

Be aware that these kind of passage-based complicated questions seem to be the trend on the real MCAT.

Make sure you review 11 heavily, my test with very similar to 11. Also be prepared for lots of normally high-yield topics to be nonexistent and longer verbal passages.

dont worry too much about it, just review over your mistakes. I ended up getting an 8 PS on aamc 11 a wk before my test. I looked through all of my mistakes and studied...ended up with a PS 12 on the real thing. just keeping working hard and try to dissect aamc 11 in terms of how questions are asked and wat type of mindset to take on
