AAMC 3 Critical Point question

I can't figure out why Point D is the critical point...it's been driving me nuts. I read both the AAMC explanation and Kaplan's explanation and still can't seem to figure it out.

Liquid's on one side, Vapor's on the other, and it border the liquid-vapor plasma area. The critical point on all other graphs sits next to those 3 areas. And D is exactly half way in between the liquid (left) and vapor (right) at the top of the arch. The slope of the lines might suggest a phase change.
