AAMC 3 Critical Point question

I can't figure out why Point D is the critical point...it's been driving me nuts. I read both the AAMC explanation and Kaplan's explanation and still can't seem to figure it out.

D is the critical point because that is where the derivative of the dotted line equals zero. Right?

We're not taking that into account. Trying to find the point where the densities are equal.

Liquid's on one side, Vapor's on the other, and it border the liquid-vapor plasma area. The critical point on all other graphs sits next to those 3 areas. And D is exactly half way in between the liquid (left) and vapor (right) at the top of the arch. The slope of the lines might suggest a phase change.
