I didn't understand how to even start from here. In the explanation, it says that Imax = Io * 10^8. How does 80 dB translate into that? Is there some generic formula that we are supposed to know for intensity?

The max loudness is 80dB and the min loudness is 30dB.

The relevant equation to use is dB = 10 * log10(Intensity / Io) where Io = 1*10^-12.

If you plug 80dB and 30dB into that equation, solve for each corresponding Intensity, the ratio will be 10^5.
