Aamcas verification process help!

So I heard that the verification process takes up to 6 weeks... This is so mind blowing. I take my Mcat August 1st.

So does this mean I get my Mcat back September 1st, then have to wait another 6 weeks for my application?

That means the school won't see my application until Middle of october???

what takes so long for the verification process? Is there something I can do to make the process faster?

Nope the process takes however long it needs to. Do you have an old MCAT score? You can send your app with an old mcat score to one school that you would never consider going to just so you can start the verification process. Then when your new score comes in, you can send it to all the other schools.

If this is your first MCAT, then the only thing you can do is take it an earlier date if you want to be verified sooner.

Just an FYI since you may have misstated or posted in the wrong forum (same idea though)...🙂

AACOMAS = DO

And yes verification time can take long. Apply now if you have a MCAT on file with a throwaway school. Indicate a future MCAT date. After you get your scores, apply to the scores that are in your ball park. Its a win win, you dont waste money, you are verified, and then work on your secondaries as you wait for them.

The longest part of verification is the transcript review.

In your situation it would be best to hold off. Raise money so you can cast a wide net and submit your application immediately on the first day.

If you are confident in your MCAT Test taking ability (consistently scoring your desired test score on > 3 practice tests) and have pretty good stats (~3.5 sGPA/cGPA), there is one way you can get into this application cycle.

First on AACOMAS you will list your expected MCAT test date as future test just to simply check the box. You can find your AMCAS ID on the site.
Second you are going to submit a primary to a low-yield school for you (MSU or OSU for most if you are OOS). The goal is to just get your transcript verified. This school will not give you any secondary because you have not completed an MCAT so this is going to be a wasted application.

Then start pre-writing your secondaries for every school and have 2Science/1NonScience/1DO letters in your hands by August. You want to be able to have a quick turnaround if you start getting secondaries (2-3 days).

Once your MCAT scores are returned in September you are updating your AACOMAS application. Add the schools you think you have a shot for and then pray.

If you aren't 100% sure you can do all this then PLEASE WAIT TIL NEXT YEAR!

Btw I'm using DO system. So you are saying m, I can get verified by just simply getting my transcript in right now and sending to a throw away school? So then when my mcat comes on I just update the score and then my primary should be verified as soon as my mcat comes in? Fyi I have all my LORs ready.

Your primary will be verified once you submit your primary. No schools will give you feedback (secondaries) until you update your file with your MCAT score.
The point is its a lot quicker to get your MCAT score verified w/ AACOMAS than your transcript.

Sorry if this is frustrating you, just to clarify. When you say get your info in, you mean everything except my Mcat (Specifically transcript)?

Transcript sent and entered, all questions answered, etc basically everything but mcat and maybe some rec letters.

Select a school you would attend if by wild odd chance they accepted you but doubt in any way they would is one strategy or select a school you'd never ever attend is another. Then submit your application.

As soon as your mcat comes in update aacomas and when your new score is posted on AACOMAS submit to every school on ur list and wait.
