This document contains every question that was on the May exam of the AAOMS NBME CBSE. There are currently over 50 people out of the 250 who received 90 and above.. many 95 and above ... and over 100 with high 80's ... If you did not get an 80 or above you will not match because of this NO MATTER HOW MUCH WORK YOU PUT IN.

CONTACT AAOMS AND GET THIS FIXED. WE NEED AN OFFICIAL RESPONSE

I have contacted them. Hopefully they will just make us retake this exam in Sept.

Please site your source for the numbers you listed above. Nothing has been released as to the mean etc from AAOMS so it looks like you are trying to create hype.

Either way, if this document was out there and even a few people had access to it, it is unfair to the rest of us.

That is true. I would still like to see where this individual is getting the numbers from as he/she created a new account to post it. This would be the worst case scenario as I have no desire to take this again prior to the application period.

Sounds like you took the test - do you remember these questions being on the exam?

CBSE is also used in med school. My 1 hr of wasted research leads me to believe this comes from a medical student and their own CBSE.

Sounds like AAOMS didn't get an exclusive test?

If many people really are getting 90+ as you say, then I agree, likely a test bank issue.

Lol what does this testing agency charge us all this money for when they can't even make new questions

Have you guys considered the possibility that no one even saw this before the exam and the guy who posted it only found it because he was looking up his test questions word for word? Not completely unlikely, especially since I think everyone was expecting new questions.

If OMFS would use the GRE like any self-respecting specialty we wouldn't be having these problems.

It will depend on how the scores come out...if the scores are on average astronomically high, then there is a strong possibilty of cheating on the exam. This will be weighed on last years test performance, I assure you

LOL, you need to get some radiologists over here. 🙂

I thought about this notion as well. But we have had at least two posters claim that they know people who "benefited" from this document. The mere fact that the solutions are out there should make this round be voided IMO

i would rather take the NBME a 3rd time than try and re-learn algebra for that silly not-dental-relevant GRE 😎

Anyone here anything from the program directors or AAMOS?

This link doesn't even work. I also found the link on a google search and it didn't work either. Has anyone actually seen the "remembered questions?"

The link works for me... And it looks like the same exact questions. It says it was uploaded April 15. This blows...😡👎

And I'd way rather take a relevant medical exam than the GRE... what does the GRE even show? You can do fill-in-the-blank and long division? Yeah that definitely qualifies you to be an oral surgeon.

If they do void the May 4th scores, then does that not screw everyone who has to retake it and apply this year?

Ah yes...The Bank of Remembered Questions. I sat for the May Exam, and this document is pretty much the exam. This is sad... What does this say about us?

I thought for sure the NBME would be eliminate the possibility of this happening as this was THE major problem with the NBDE. Since we all had to take it on the same day, there would be no chance of forming a rolling bank of questions. And I believed that the NBME would not recycle questions.

But appears that they have a bank of unreleased questions they recycle. And probably some ambitious students who failed the Sept exam, decided to team up, each remember 10-15 questions, form a bank, and ace the May exam.

High possibility that the students who formed this bank may be in the pool of Sept-retakers. That narrows down the field of suspects...

This wasn't the same exam as in September...
Its an old NBME, but not the one given to dental students. The document must have been written by med students, probably just for them to study. A dental student must have come by it, and realized it was an unreleased NBME, and passed it around.

look at the upload date: 4/15/2013

coincidence?? 4/15/2013 - exam date 5/4/2013

You may be right, but I am pretty surprised how many questions on that document were on the May exam. If it is a bank of unreleased that med students compiled. The dental students who had this document hit PAY-DIRT.

Question is whether or not this will be the method for scoring high in the future ...

No you are understanding me wrong.
My point is the NBME has a bank, but you can see old NBMEs that have been released (they have released 15, 13, 12, 11, ect). The kids who had this document didn't just have a bank, they had the actual test. Its not just similar, its the same test. The NBME reuses non released tests for med schools, and I am assuming they used one of them for us. One of the med schools that took the test in April 2012 obviously wrote down the answers to that test. Our test was identical, meaning anyone who had access to that document didn't just have a bank, they had the actual test.
While the NBME does reuse questions, it is very rare (I took 3 NBMEs online that you can buy from the NBME, and saw maybe 1 or 2 similar questions, but none that were identical). The issue here isn't reusing individual questions, it was that they reused a complete test.

Thank you for taking the time to report your concerns regarding the recent AAOMS exam administration. The NBME takes issues of security very seriously and is actively reviewing the material provided. We welcome any additional information you wish to provide.

Shoot her an email guys. More the merrier. Don't sit by and let this happen, lets do the right thing. Even if only one person benefited. That's one too many.

Way to go ACE! Thanks for misleading everybody and stirring up a storm of controversy. You are probably the one person that saw the information before the test and was pissed you did poorly.

The corresponding statistics for the OMS applicants who participated in the May 2013 exam is a mean of 59, range of 28 to 92, and a standard deviation of 11.6.
