Abandon a LOR?

Haven't heard back from one of my would be LOR writers since May 15th or so. I checked his class schedule for the summer and all of his classes ended on June 7 so I'm thinking maybe he's off campus and isn't checking his school email. The Fall semester doesn't start up until Aug 20, and even if it does submit shortly thereafter it would still be pretty late in the cycle. And then if he doesn't submit it, I'll have waited for nothing.

I don't really need his LOR, since I have 2 science, 1 DO, and 1 employer without him, but some schools said they would accept a third science LOR in lieu of a non-science LOR. So unless they're going to also take an employer in lieu of a non-science, I'm screwed at those schools.

You don't have no other means of contacting him? What about the school because they may have phone numbers? Have you tried getting another science LOR from someone else?

I just sent an email to another science teacher I had last summer, but I don't know if she'll be able to write one in the next couple of weeks.
