can u please explain how abetalipo causes CNS disease such as ataxia and retinitis pigmentosa. also what about hemolytic anemia. thanks.
 
since your not absorbing fat, you cant absorb fat soluble vitamins (a,d,e,k). the lack of Vit E causes all those symptoms you just described. You can then treat them with Vitamin E. I think thats right.

Why are there no symptoms of A, D, or K deficiency?
 
The most severe effects come from Vitamin E def - neurological demyelination and anemia. The other vitamin def do manifest such as visual problems, but they are not as severe. For our purposes, abetalipoproteinemia manifests almost exactly like vitamin E def. also, vitamin E def manifests similar to B12 def but without the megaloblastic changes in the anemia.
