ABIM research pathway/card

I am contemplating the ABIM research pathway/card; The ABIM says that "board certification is not different from the regular programs.

My question, going through this pathway and getting board certified for IM and Card, if I decide down the road to be part time academics and part time private practice, will there be a problem to do private practice?
