Is it normal for ERAS to say "You may not apply to this program at this time" on every program selected, even after everything is completed?

Also, has anyone been able to pay any money yet, or can this not be done until Sept 1st?

Yup.

Nope.

I also was itching to submit my completed ERAS. I believe those actions will not be active until we are allowed to submit on Sept. 1.

so you can just submit an ERAS app even if the letters aren't in yet? do they get automatically uploaded then?

on a similar topic, sept 1 is this coming saturday, and sept 3 is labor day. does anyone think anything will be downloaded before sept 4? i'm traveling this weekend and won't be able to submit until late on sept 3 when i get home - hopefully this won't matter since i can't imagine program coordinators will be working during the holiday weekend.

yes, the program director & his secretaries are eager and can't wait to get their hands on those apps. expect them to be in office all day saturday so they can beat out all those slacker programs that wait for the work week

heheh... ok, i deserved that one. :meanie: but i wouldn't be surprised if there's at least a few programs out there that actually do download as soon as possible. not that it's likely to make an ounce of difference.

and hey now, let's not be sexist. i'm sure there are equally OCD female PDs out there...

People need in general to relax about ERAS. I don't know the percentage, but a sizeable proportion of applicants do not submit within the first week or two. The deadline is sometime in october, right? Sometimes people wait. I wouldn't wait too long, but there isn't a huge advantage to getting your application in on day one vs day eight (or day 25 even).

Every program behaves differently on how they download information and process it. At some they download everything as soon as they can and start compiling folders. This doesn't mean they decide on interviews right away though. And it isn't first come first served for the most part (unless you are really late in applying and they have already filled every interview spot, which is RARE). Some programs wait for awhile and don't download until many weeks into the process.

And the "downloading" process usually means the secretary/program coordinator is gathering info. The actual program director may not see things for awhile.

So take your time, make sure things are correct, and don't stress too much.
