Why do some DOs choose to become dual board certified in ABMS/AOA? Do insurance companies require DOs to be AOA certified in order to sit on insurance panels or can a DO choose to ABMS certification only and still be eligible for insurance panels? Any other disadvantages to only being AMBS certified as a DO? Thanks for your feedback.

Don't give money to the AOA. No point in being dual boarded and you will potentially deal with worse MOCA/CME hurdles depending on which specialty you are DO boarded in.

No. Only do ABMS. There is absolutely no reason to choose AOA over ABMS.

Id avoid the AOA, partially because of their shady practice of previously tying board certification into being an AOA member, forcing people to be members. Doesnt sit right with me, even if they finally relented.
